Fair Credit for Farmers Act Gains Attention

The Fair Credit for Farmers Act is getting attention for the many benefits it would bring to farmers and ranchers relying on credit services provided by the USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA)! Anthony Pahnke writes that farmers shouldn't have to bet the farm in order to obtain loans, and explains key aspects of the bill that will give farmers more opportunities for fair, transparent credit. Iowa CCI member-farmer Barb Kalbach also highlighted the bill's importance for Public News Service, including the letter of support that NFFC submitted to Congress with more than 100 signatory food and farm organizations.

Farmland for Farmers, Not Farmland for Hedge Funds

Tune in to this NEW podcast episode from What Doesn't Kill You, hosted by Heritage Radio Network, and hear from NFFC President Jim Goodman and Vice President Tiffany Bellfield El-Amin share how the Farmland For Farmers Act fits into the 2023 Farm Bill!

From Heritage Radio Network's website: "The National Family Farm Coalition is advocating for the Farmland For Farmers Act introduced by Senator Cory Booker in July of this year. Agricultural land needs to stay accessible to actual farmers, rather than offer an opportunity to corporate entities to capitalize on high land prices, at the same time driving those prices into a stratosphere no mere mortal can possibly attain. Our food security depends on measures like this. Tune in to see how this fits into the Farm Bill, and its chances at passage."

Protect Farmers & Consumers from Dangers of PFAS and PFOS!

NOFA-VT and Rural VT are building support for the PFAS Relief for Farmers Act (S.747) in the 2023 farm Bill! The bill aims to provide critical financial and technical assistance to farmers whose operations and revenue are seriously reduced or halted entirely due to contamination by the dangerous class of "forever chemicals", PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). PFAS contamination in the food supply chain is a significant concern associated with environmental and health risks.
