Westshore Alliance announces Ailsa Hendry Hudson as its new Director of Marketing & Communications. Ailsa brings with her more than 10 years of communications experience most recently with Simon Property Group. She has held marketing roles in the Tampa Bay area with United Way, Tampa Connection and Ferman Auto Group.

In her new position, Ailsa will develop and oversee marketing, communications and public relations programs for Tampa's Westshore District. She will develop and implement strategic marketing and communication plans and manage the budget for the Westshore Special Services District, including administering applicable contracts.

The new owner of the Westin Tampa Bay, Castlerock Asset Management, plans to convert parking garage space into hotel rooms. The  Rocky Point Island hotel currently has  244 rooms and suites as well as 10,000 sq.ft. of meeting space. This is the only Tampa property for Castlerock which is based in Nashville and owns the Westin Nashville and the Bobby, an elegant boutique hotel located in a meticulously restored-and-renovated building on Nashville's historic Printer's Alley.

Tampa International Airport  and its three general aviation airports were recognized for efforts in carbon reduction. The  ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation program  is a global carbon management program for airports that independently assesses and recognizes airports' efforts to manage and reduce their CO2  emissions. The Florida Department of Transportation has started detours on State Road 60 / Memorial Hwy related to work to widen Interstate 275 through Westshore. The detour will be in effect from Sunday, October 6 to Friday, October 11, 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. As part of the 275 operational improvements, the overpass at SR 60 needs to be widened, which requires a closure of SR 60 under 275. Confusion over the detours on SR 60 led to some drivers missing detour signs and ending up on 275 to St. Petersburg. Please use Spruce Street as the primary route to avoid the closure.
