Westshore Interchange gets state funding again
The Westshore Interchange received state funding in September after having the funds pulled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An allocation of $1.2 billion in state and federal funds will go towards construction of the interchange, which will start in 2023. Originally, the interchange was scheduled to start in 2024, but was pushed back to 2026 when the funding was removed because of the pandemic.
The interchange will be divided into segments. The latest portion of the construction is scheduled to end in Summer 2031. The interchange will include three new street level connections (Reo, Occident, Trask), which will enable better pedestrian and transit access in Westshore. More information on the project is available on FDOT’s website.
