Our mission is to create hope, opportunity, and choice, with work as the means through which people with disabilities and other hurdles to employment can more fully participate in the mainstream of life.
OCTOBER NEWS
October Is Disability Employment Awareness Month
Bayaud is proud to celebrate our employees at the VA Hospital. Our dedicated employees staff the switchboard, the mailroom, and the patient transport department.

Our folks work tirelessly to ensure that patients, visitors, and staff at the VA receive the utmost care and attention.

Now in its 75th year, and led by the U .S. Department of Labor, National Disability Employment Awareness Month seeks to educate people about disability employment issues, celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities, and foster a more inclusive workforce. Work gives individuals a sense of contributing, belonging, and purpose while providing financial benefits. Individuals of every ability have the right to job opportunities they find to be meaningful — at fair pay.

Did you know that employment of adults with disabilities benefits business and government with less turnover, increased productivity, access to a broader pool of skilled workers, and reduced government spending for and medical and disability benefits? For adults with disabilities, employment means greater economic self-sufficiency, an opportunity to use their skills, and more active participation in community life. Bayaud Hosts 5th Annual Community Hustle

Our folks sure know how to hustle! At the 5th Annual Bayaud Community Hustle creative individuals shared their exceptional talents and how they’re marketing those talents as a side hustle.
Comedians, digital artists, poets, cartoonists, dancers (even by Zoom!), crotchet artists, and a pianist gave stellar performances with the audience providing them valuable feedback on how to use their talents for profit.
Food Pantry Updates
We continue to operate the Food Pantry on Thursdays from 11-3 p.m.

With COVID-19 still persisting, the need for emergency supplies has increased dramatically.

Please consider donating canned goods, cereal, peanut butter/jelly, tooth paste, tooth brushes, deodorant, laundry soap (pods), socks, bar soaps, travel size shampoo and conditioner. We also have a tremendous need for feminine hygiene products.

As the weather turns colder, warm clothing such as coats, hats, and gloves are also appreciated.

Have some extra time on your hands?
We need volunteers to help with the Food Pantry. Contact: [email protected] for more information.
Bayaud Staff Trained In
Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues.

To better serve our participants, Bayaud staff members are being trained on how to
assist an individual experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. Staff are learning risk factors and warning signs, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.
