Why Midterms Matter
By Todd Brown
When some people hear the word “midterms,” they may think back to exams they took in high school or college. But in American political life, the term also refers to elections that are held about halfway through each presidential term.
Although the president is not on the ballot this year, many other officeholders are. All 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are up for election every two years, along with roughly one-third of the U.S. Senate. Races for many governors, state legislators, county officials, and other state and local officials are also being held in many parts of the country. Read more

Can You Guess Our Mystery Innovator?
Long before joining RD 14, this scientist's journey began with a childhood experiment submerging painted tiles in a river for three months to test their efficacy against barnacles. That sense of discovery and search for solutions got bigger and bigger. Today, they are a mentor, an industry advocate, and an inventor holding multiple U.S. chemical patents. Their breakthroughs range from industrial resins and coatings to a game-changing process that makes paper products tough and water-resistant while keeping them safely repulpable during recycling. They are the reason your Amazon deliveries stay dry and the boxes stay green.
Make your guess here! The answer will be revealed in November's edition.
