October is Occupational Therapy Month! This month we recognize occupational therapists for their dedication to the delivery of safe, effective services.

The College has released a fall radio spot to educate the public about working with regulated health professionals like occupational therapists and our role as a regulator.

New Competencies for OTs
In effect November 1, 2022
Reminder: The new Competencies for Occupational Therapists in Canada. ACOTRO, ACOTUP & CAOT (2021) will take effect November 1st, 2022.

Occupational therapists are required to review and understand how to apply these competencies in their practice.

Reminder: the PREP is due October 31, 2022!
 
Note: Registrants do not have to complete a Self-Assessment (SA) or Professional Development Plan (PDP) for October 31, 2022, as requirements are postponed until the new year. An “Annual Learning Plan” will replace the existing SA and PDP. Get ready for a new look in early 2023!

Case of the Month
Recording Occupational Therapy Sessions
The practice consultant receives a call from Esther, an occupational therapist working in the community, to discuss a client's request to record an occupational therapy session. Esther wonders if she should allow the recording of the sessions and considers what to do.

Esther contacts the practice consultant to find out if there are resources on the College website to support her decision-making.
