Wasson Way On the Move!
This has been a year of challenge, progress and growth for the Wasson Way! We’ve seen an incredible growth in the number of users on the trail. We’ve added amenities to improve their experience. And construction has begun on Phase Three, which will nearly double the length of the trail by year’s end.
Last fall we planted 63 trees along Phases One and Two. This was made possible through volunteers and generous support from donors like you. This fall, we will add over 60 more trees through a generous grant from MadTree Brewing’s “1% for the Planet” program.
When Phase Two opened last November we saw a steady increase in the number of users on the trail over the winter. The trail count exploded this spring as people sought safe, healthy outdoor activities during the pandemic.
In July we broke ground on Phase Three as the City and Prus Construction started building the section that will extend form Madison Road to Marburg Avenue. And yes, the Madison Road crossing will have a full, traffic-stopping pedestrian-activated signal! The construction of Phase Three and future phases is made possible through our participation in the CROWN Capital Campaign.
CROWN Let's Connect Our Trails
Wasson Way is pleased to announce that we joined forces with Ohio River Way, Tri-State Trails, and Green Umbrella to launch the CROWN Cincinnati Capital Campaign earlier this year. CROWN, the Cincinnati Riding Or Walking Network, will form a 34-mile urban trail loop connecting Wasson Way to the Murray Path, Little Miami Scenic Trail, Canal Bikeway, Ohio River Trail, Mill Creek Greenway Trail, and more.

Through this partnership, the City of Cincinnati has already secured $6 M in federal funding from the OKI Regional Council of Governments to extend Wasson Way west to Blair Court in Avondale and east to the Murray Path in Fairfax.

The City has a pending federal grant application for another $3.8 M to extend west from Avondale to Uptown. The CROWN Capital Campaign is raising funds for the local match component of these grants. Building the CROWN will transform Cincinnati into a leading destination to live, work, and play by linking our regional trails and reconnecting our neighborhoods.

Artworks Mural
We are proud to now have a completed ArtWorks mural “Electric Avenue” along Wasson Way!
This project was sponsored by Duke Energy who commissioned ArtWorks Cincinnati to use Duke's newly constructed parking facility as a canvas for the first major public art installation on Wasson Way.
The mural, designed by Christian Dallas, and painted by local student apprentices, celebrates sustainability, energy, movement, and nature while adding visual interest to the surrounding woods and trail area.
