Local Employees Give Back to the Gunpowder

Sometimes the most meaningful work can be accomplished outside a cubicle and far away from a computer screen! This fall, GVC has been fortunate to connect with local businesses who incorporate social responsibility in the workplace. Ciena employees (pictured above) recently participated in a GVC Tree Maintenance event. One participant shared:

"Today we got our hands dirty to help give our trees some TLC! Thank you Ciena for the opportunity to volunteer with my colleagues for this initiative. Truly rewarding!"

Earlier this month, Constellation and the Arbor Day Foundation partnered with GVC at the Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier in Cockeysville. Constellation employees planted 100 native trees in commemoration of the company's 10,000th tree planted nationwide. Click on the photo above to watch a video featuring some familiar GVC faces!

GVC has worked with a variety of nonprofit organizations, homeowner associations, faith-based groups, businesses, and corporations throughout our 30+ years. We have the resources to connect people to meaningful outdoor activities within northern and eastern Baltimore County as well as parts of Harford County.

Connect Your Group with GVC!

"Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is fueled by volunteers. When we partner with corporate volunteer groups, they help us accomplish our mission to preserve and restore the Gunpowder Watershed by educating and mobilizing people. Nowadays, everyone is busy. When corporations support and encourage their employees to participate in volunteer work, people who may not have otherwise had time are able to contribute to their communities."
