Fresh on the heels of a very successful Insights Discovery Accreditation in Calgary, October is shaping up to be another busy month.  Our Evolve Conference brought together practitioners in over 30 different cities, and our November Accreditation session in Vancouver is filled, with a waiting list. Insights is indeed evolving and moving into the global leadership development space, and we're excited to be a part of it.

If you're on LinkedIn, we've added a Certificate you can attach to your profile. Just f ollow the link in this article.

In addition to some interesting reads, this month we've got updates to Renewal sessions, Accreditations, and other events and practitioner education pieces we have planned.

Thank you Everyone for your Participation!

Our 2016 Evolve Conference attracted over a ninety Insights Practitioner registrants from across Canada and the USA. We even had folks join us from Europe.

Mark Mullaly explored Exercising Agency - exactly what does it take to navigate our organizations in order to take actions necessary to succeed? Drawing on recent research into decision making, organizational change and strategy, he shared the insights necessary to assess just how much freedom exists to act within our organizations- and how to exercise the agency we have. "His topic was super interesting for me. I loved how he engaged us at the very beginning of his presentation", one participant said. "His slides were super sharp and inviting, and his insights and research were very valuable to me."

Tanya Boyd, Insights Global Solutions Design Consultant walked participants through a set of steps to measure the impact of learning and development programs. She also provided some best practice models and ideas to enhance our ability to measure the ROI of our learning and development investments. Participants were engaged and contributed their thoughts and experience to the online discussion.

In regards to the Net Promotor Score Tanya discussed, Mike Forbes, Insights Customer Insight Manager had this to say, "It can vary a lot by industry, but the image I've attached will give you a good idea of average and 'best in class' NPS scores for a variety of industries. +60 would always be an excellent score, regardless of industry, somewhere around +40 would generally be good, with average often +20 to +30.  As you'll see from the attached chart though, in some industries (like Cable TV or internet service providers) +20 would actually be best in class! "   Check out the graphic here to see the image Mike is referring to.

"The first Insights Canada West virtual conference seemed to be quite a success!" said Cathy Anderson, Manager, Learning Services. "Our two guest speakers were wonderfully informative, sharing their passions and expertise with our virtual audience in such an engaging way. We're excited to be able to offer value to our ICW client and practitioner community through the expertise of our presenters as well as through our 'virtual cracker barrels' that were made available after the conference close. This is definitely an event we will look to recreate in the future."

The two live-sessions were followed by a preview of links to pre-recorded virtual Cracker Barrel sessions which practitioners will be able to access as required, and the entire Evolve conference was recorded so if you didn't get a chance to participate in the actual event, you can still take advantage of the learning.  We've prepared a post-conference web page featuring links to the recorded sessions by Mark and Tanya, the virtual cracker barrel sessions, and additional resources like work sheets, learning guides and Insights models referenced in sessions.

CP Renewals
A one-day interactive session for Insights Discovery Client Practitioners committed to keeping their learning alive. Renewals extend your Insights Discovery certification for another two years.  While each program is adjusted to meet the needs of the registered participants, a typical day addresses questions such as:
  • What exercises can I use to reinforce key messages in a personal effectiveness workshop?
  • What do I need to remember when debriefing an individual's Insights Discovery Profile?
  • How can I apply other chapters in the Insights Discovery Profile?
  • What is common, and different, as you transition from an introductory workshop to Discovering Team Effectiveness or Discovering Leadership Effectiveness?
  • What's the difference between an integrated Insights learning strategy and single event workshops?
  • What new resources might fit with the needs in my organization?
Calgary - Thursday, March 16th, 2017
Vancouver - Thursday, March 23rd, 2017
Regina - Wednesday, June 7th, 2017

CP Networking Event
While many participants commented positively about our virtual conference, we also heard feedback that participants missed the face-to-face interactions. And we don't blame them - we did too! That's why we're excited to plan regional networking events, where the emphasis and focus will be on connecting our community and sharing their learnings in a more social environment. In fact, planning is already underway for future Client Practitioner events including both face-to-face networking events and virtual learning opportunities. Mark December 15th on your calendar and watch for details about networking opportunities in Calgary and Vancouver coming soon.

Those little Life Lessons

Do you  sometimes find that life's smallest interactions can end up having a unexpected impact on you?  Insights Customer Experience Director Lynne-Marie shared a recent experience about remaining open to learn from the folks we encounter every day.  Her complete Blog post is available on the Insights website, but the key points are:
  1. You're never the finished article.  We continue to grow, learn and evolve in our personal and professional lives.
  2. Be open to life's lessons. Pay attention to what others bring to the workplace or situation.
  3. Be the best version of yourself.  Continue to grow, learn, and stretch yourself.

When we're on the lookout, life will find a way to encourage us to evolve and grow.

We know the power of story, and how this can transform people and organizations.  A recent article in The Atlantic explores how story shapes us as humans.  It's a longer read, but definitely worth it.
