Colonel Sanders, Watch Out!
Recently, Mr. Schoenleb took some time to check in with Chef Steven in the kitchen. We wanted to let our NVCA family know who’s behind all the great cuisine at school. In this video, Chef Steven will share what he has planned for October lunches. We are grateful for Chef Steven and his entire team for all of their hard work every day.

Due to the generosity of parents, friends, and associate donors, we have been blessed to be able to purchase materials that enhance our educational goals. We wanted to show you just some of the many items that donations from last year's FunRun and Ultimate Apple campaigns, and other donor gifts have put to good use. As always, we cannot thank you enough for partnering with us to provide the best Christian education for your children. Our teachers and students thank you as well.

Hands-on Science is Fun!
The continued support of our donors is reaping rewards in many ways on campus. We were very excited to be able to purchase new science curriculum that includes workbooks for all course units for each middle school grade, as well as online learning tools and hands-on materials. Students are very happy with this year's curriculum and the opportunities they have for digging into science in more ways than one.

FunRun—October 31
This year, we'll have our annual FunRun/Color Run the end of October. Please watch for details and pledge information your child may bring home. Also, keep an eye on our Facebook page for any updates.
Our goal will be to purchase one to two used transportation vehicles (vans/small busses) that we can use for athletics and other community event activities.
Last year, Mr. Schoenleb bought pizza for the class that raised the most in pledges. He promises to do the same this year!
A series of motivational activities will take place around campus during the weeks leading up to the event. Thank you for supporting our students and school.

Homecoming Dance—2019
Our students had a memorable evening at this year's homecoming dance. We thank all of the volunteers who planned, set up, and chaperoned for "An Evening in Paris."
Everyone enjoyed the great food, the dancing, and fellowship.
C'était tellement amusant.

Arctic Adventure Book Fair—Snow Much to Read!
Thank you, Margaret, and SERVE team for conducting a successful and enjoyable book fair. We appreciate all of your hard work from start to finish. With your help, we raised $2,129.
We also want to thank all students, staff, parents, and grandparents for helping us reach 96 percent of our 1,200 book goal. We raised $405 through the All for Books charitable contribution program, which will place books into the hands of children who do not have any. The All for Books program also allows NVCA to retain books worth the same amount. The selected books will fulfill needs in individual classrooms and the general reading areas!

Grandparents' Day—September 20, 2019
NVCA students and grandparents attended chapel, toured the school and the book fair, and enjoyed a delicious meal together on Grandparents' Day.
Of those grandparents who did RSVP to the event, 178 of them attended. We welcomed approximately 20 more in addition at the door.

Getting to Know Our First Grade Teacher
Amy Arnett
I was thrilled to join NVCA's faculty as first grade teacher in August of this year. Previously, I had taught third grade for five years in the Cave Creek Unified School District.
As a teacher, I love seeing the lightbulb go off in a child’s eyes and how they build upon relationships. I love a first grader’s enthusiasm for learning and their innocence. Currently, we are studying God’s promises to Abraham, even and odd numbers, nouns, living and non-living things, and phonograms.
My goal for my class this year is to reinforce how we should desire to seek God in all things. My favorite scripture verse is Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ.”

STOP, DROP, AND ROLL LADIES! Go Lions!
by Assistant Coach Michelle Flanagan
The NVCA Girls Varsity Team has begun its first year of AIA varsity volleyball by stepping up to the net and really making a mark on the court, ranking as #19. A third of the way through our first ever season and we are already in first place in the 1A West Division, and we don’t even have any seniors on the team! Coach Sean Flanagan and I could not be more impressed or more proud of this hard working group of ladies. We have both played many years of volleyball at very high levels and Coach Sean has coached very high level teams for many years. We are truly blessed and honored to coach every student on our team, and we do it for the love of NVCA and volleyball. The bonds our players are creating and great sportsmanship they exude is truly special, and although winning is always fabulous, they are showing that they can win or lose with grace and dignity!
