YOUR NAME MATTERS
Name Tag
Why wear a name tag?
  • Name tags encourage conversation;
  • Name tags promote an outward focus;
  • Name tags make guests feel more comfortable; &
  • Some folks aren't great at remembering names!
SANCTUARY FLOWERS
You can provide flowers for one of our  Sunday  services  in the name of someone, such as to mark a birthday or anniversary, in memory of someone who's passed on, or to the  Glory to God. Look for the Flowers  sign-up sheet in the lobby of the church. Choose an open date, and put a  check for $35 into the collection plate any Sunday with "Flowers" in the memo line.  Thank you!
Our phone number, P.O. box

St. Catherine's updated its phone number this year; the last four digits stayed the same but the first three numbers changed to 851.  The new number is: (775) 851-4168. We also moved our mailing address to the McCabe USPS branch:  P.O. Box 17831, Reno, NV 89511.
Pledges can be set up with a bank's automatic bill pay

Some St. Catherine's members have found it very convenient to use their bank's "bill pay" service to handle their pledge to the church.  You can instruct your bank to have a check of a certain amount generated on a certain date, which will then show up automatically each month at the church's P.O. box. If you're interested in setting this up to save yourself the step of writing checks for your pledge, please talk to your bank or financial institution to find out the details.

Vestry Corner

By Charlie Dickinson, Senior Warden

As announced at our Sunday services on Sept. 29, we are excited and blessed to have called The Rev. Thomas William Blake (Father Tom+) to be Priest in Charge Under Special Circumstances.  Father Tom+ will join us on the first Sunday of Advent, Dec. 1.  Our call to Father Tom+ came after much prayerful thought, discussion and discernment.  We look forward to Father Tom's leadership as we move into a new year of growth and opportunity.

We want to thank Father Mike Patterson for leading our services in September and for Father Bob Swope in stepping in for our services on Sept. 29.  Father Mike+ and Father Bob+ will continue to lead our services until Father Tom+ joins us as our regular Priest.

We continue to work on developing a new Mission for our Parish.  We have received a great deal of feedback from the Parish and we hope that as Father Tom+ joins us, that he will help guide us to our next Mission to serve the needs of South Reno.

Our fall stewardship campaign will begin in late October.  We are excited to see the new directions that 2020 will take us as we continue in Christ's mission to serve others.

The Vestry would like to thank everyone in the Parish for the support and Prayers that they have provided to St. Catherine's as we have moved through our transition to a new Priest.
Calling all St. Catherine's children and friends!

By Beth Osborne

As a way to bring together our younger parishioners ages 4 through high school, we will offer a monthly "Children's hour" between the two services, starting THIS Sunday, Oct 6 at 10 a.m.

This hour will include a Godly Play story and creative response (art project), along with music/drama to get ready for our Christmas Eve pageant. Older children/youth will be asked to be "helpers" so that there will be a role for all ages.  Please invite your friends who don't belong to a church, so we can share this wonderful ministry with them.  Once we determine our pageant needs, we may call for additional practice sessions during Advent to help prepare!

Any older youth or adults who are interested in becoming a Godly Play storyteller, sharing their artistic or musical talents, or want to help with this year's pageant, please contact Beth at beth-osborne@hotmail.com.  Let's get things rolling this fall!
Cleanliness is next to ...

By Liz Skogerson

A big thank you to Gail Shahbaghlian, Charlie Dickinson and Linda Stetzell who helped me move chairs and tables for the carpet and chair cleaning on Monday, Sept. 30.

All of the church's carpeting and all of our chairs have been cleaned, and all the prayer cards have been sanitized!

Senior Bundles report: Thank you!

By Amy Heintz

Thank you to all of you who participated in the Senior Bundles collection in September. The items were delivered to Life Care Center after being blessed. Again we were thanked by the staff for all of the items we donated. They were so glad to receive the items that will bring some happiness and comfort to their clients.  Again, I thank you all for your generosity. We will have another collection in March.
