October is here! As hard as it is to believe and as much as we love summer, we're also ready for some cooler weather, complete with bonfires, apple orchards, the changing over to fall colors, and all of the other amazing things that come along with this new season.

Our October newsletter includes details on our fall schedule that runs September - October - November, our 3rd Annual 30 Day Challenge, upcoming workshops, and the next Yoga Teacher Training modules that are being held at the studio.

Please reach out if you have any questions and as always, thank you for being a part of our community!

Join us for our 3rd annual 30 Day challenge!
This years challenge theme is THANKFUL. It is designed to get you to commit to your own practice for self care and also to care for those less fortunate in our community during the holiday season.

Here's the commitment:

Purchase a "Thankful 30-Day Challenge" wristband and Happy Dog Yoga Studio tote bag for $20. The studio will donate all net profits of the purchase to our local soup kitchen Mid-City Nutrition. Choose a start date between October 1st - 28th. Once you pick the start date, you MUST practice on your mat 30 times in 30 consecutive days. Five  of your days can be practiced at home or off site. The rest, in either studio! We are also requiring that you bring in a non perishable food item for EACH of your in-studio classes. So on your way out the door as you grab your yoga mat swing by your pantry and grab a can of food, box of pasta, or any other non perishable food item and toss it in your new tote bag.

We are also offering a couple opportunities for one practice to count as two.
  • Take a picture of yourself in your home practice wearing your 30 Day Challenge bracelet and post it on social media and tag the studio.
  • Sell a 30 Day Challenge bracelet to a friend (remember all net profits of the bracelets are going to our local soup kitchen). You can also double dip and attend 2 classes in one day at the studios.

Record your classes on provided charts at the studios.  IF YOU COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE, you will receive a FREE 1 month unlimited Yoga package. The first 5 Yogis to complete the challenge will also receive a Happy Dog Mat Carrier Bag.

We will end the challenge with a special donation Gratitude Class at both studios on Thanksgiving Day! What better way to start your holiday than to gather with your yoga community and truly be thankful for all that we have and all that we are able to share with those less fortunate as we together load up all the food gathered over the 30 Day Challenge for delivery to Mid-City Nutrition.

To help you feel your best during the challenge we are also offering 20% off massages.

Why join this 30 day challenge?

You will be helping our local soup kitchen feed the hungry not only through the holidays but contributing to their new building fund so that they can increase the amount of meals served yearly. Did you know that they currently serve 70,000 meals per year? You can gain support and encouragement through group participation and community here at the studios. You're ready to take your practice deeper into a regular daily habit. You'll increase your physical health A LOT! Your flexibility and strength will increase, your endurance and energy levels will go up, you will definitely sleep BETTER, your immunity will be boosted, your mood will be improved, and you will have more awareness and mindfulness in daily life,

How do I join?

Purchase your bracelet, sign your name on our handy charts at either studio, mark your calendar, purchase some extra food items the next time you are at the grocery store, and COMMIT!
You can download the Mind Body Connect app and plan your schedule! Grab a friend and support each others journey! If you are unable to join the full challenge please consider showing your support with the purchase of a 30 Day Challenge wristband. Together we can make a difference!

We are excited to announce that Happy Dog Yoga Studios has partnered with Ground & Center Yoga to offer a module based, Yoga Alliance approved, 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.

What is a module-based program? In a module-based program you decide how to attend. As a yogi on your teacher training journey you can either start and complete the modules in order, completing the program in as little as 9 months. Or, you can attend the weekend modules as it works with your schedule. With this option, you'll have 18 months to complete the program once you begin.

What if I'm already a teacher and I'm interested in attending? You can join us! If there is a module you're interested in learning more about, you are invited to attend and will earn continuing education credits for Yoga Alliance. Remember, as a Yoga Alliance registered Yoga Teacher you must complete 30 hours of yoga related training every 3 years!

October 4th - 6th, 2019
Asana & Alignment: Feeling Into the Body
In this module we'll begin to explore Asana and start building the foundation for movement. We'll look at basic human anatomy and how each pose targets certain areas of the body, practicing and learning key poses in each category of asana (standing poses, forward bends, backbends, twists, and inversions) so that you may begin to develop a relationship to the form and function of the different categories. We'll explore principles of alignment and how to apply them to your own practice so that you may begin to teach more effectively.

November 8th - 10th, 2019
Anatomy & Physiology of Yoga: Applications to the Practice
As a yoga teacher, it's important to know about anatomy in order to better to lead a healthy practice and help students understand what's going on in the body. Studying anatomy will allow you to lead classes with clearer instruction, to tell your students which parts of the body should be contracting and relaxing in various poses, and to better understand weak, tight, and injured areas. You'll leave with a greater understanding of the different systems of the body and how yoga can impact these various areas, which will inform your teaching and allow you to lead with greater understanding and compassion.

This program is designed to meet YOUR needs. Want more details? Head on over to groundandcenteryoga.com to read more and sign up!
