I would like to invite you to the Bench-Bar Dinner in Celebration of Women and Minorities in the Legal Profession on October 29 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Richmond.  Please join us in honoring over 40 newly elected and elevated judges .

There are also great opportunities to volunteer this month with the Minority Pre-Law Conference in Williamsburg, the Wills for Heroes program in Richmond, and the Hogar Immigration Clinic in Arlington.

Bench-Bar Dinner

This year’s Bench Bar Dinner will honor over 40 newly elected or elevated female and minority judges in Virginia. Celebrate the honorees on October 29 at the Hilton Downtown Richmond Hotel at 6 pm.

Dinner is included with your ticket purchase and will feature keynote speaker the Honorable Roderick C. Young. Seating will be limited, so register by October 15 to secure your space ! Or consider volunteering to help the YLC host this event.
Minority Pre-Law Conference

The  Minority Pre-Law Conference Hampton Roads  needs you! The program encourages and supports minorities in applying to law school and obtaining financial aid. It's free and open to the public.

Volunteers are needed to spread the word about the event, for set-up and break-down, to assist participants and escort panelists, and to participate in mentorship networking from 11:20-11:50 am.  Email the organizers to volunteer for this fun and rewarding event.
A Day in General Practice

Co-sponsored by the General Practice Section, this CLE brings together experienced judges and lawyers for a day of practice tips and real-life essentials. Wills for Heroes in Richmond

The Wills for Heroes Program provides free basic estate planning documents to first responders and their spouses, which are prepared by volunteer attorneys using the "HotDocs" document assembly program. All Virginia-licensed attorneys are encouraged to participate. NO estate planning experience is necessary!

RSVP by October 15 for a mandatory volunteer training ( 1.5 hours CLE pending ) and to specify your preferred shift(s) for October 28 or 29.
YLC Distinguished Attorneys for August
Melissa Moser , Nicolle Vasquez , and Erin Conway are the co-chairs of the Wills for Heroes Program, organized in collaboration with the Virginia Bar Association. They worked with the Office of the Governor on this program, which provides simple wills, powers of attorney, and advance directives for the Virginia State Police, the Capitol Police, and their families. Their dedication to serving the community of first responders in the Commonwealth of Virginia is extraordinary!
