Message from Sister Maria, Principal
"Although this school year started off very differently and with challenges due to the pandemic, our students, teachers and staff have remained focused on education. We are conducting school both virtually and in-person while implementing new safety protocols.

I am proud of our students and staff for their resilience through all these changes. The staff worked all summer, and they are in school daily from 6:30 am. It shows the level of dedication and love that they have for the students. It is not a job; it is a ministry for all of us.

We would like to thank all of the school's supporters who have stepped forward with their generous gifts this school year. The gift of education is one that will last well beyond their time at St. Peter Claver."
We want to celebrate our students and their talents this Christmas season.

Join us virtually on Tuesday, December 15 at 10 a.m. to enjoy updates from Sister Maria, Principal as well as some performances the by our students.

Register now for the FREE event. Each attendee will receive a small gift along with a link to the show. Support our students and learn more about our mission.
Student Debate Team Broadcasts School-Wide
SPCCS recently broadcasted a students vs. teachers debate to the entire school. Eighth grader I’Man’i and seventh grader Quinten spoke for the student team. Sister Maria and Mr. Havelk, represented the teachers.

The resolution: Tik-tok should be banned. The students learned how to cite evidence for their positions and respond to questions presented by the opposition.

Mr. H, as he. is known to the students, organized the Debate Team after several students expressed an interest in having one. "I wanted to learn more about how to present an educated argument on a topic," I'Man'i said. "Now I am better at it."

Volunteer with
St. Peter Claver
St. Peter Claver students are continuing to adapt and grow this school year after the disruptions to the end of last term. Our teachers are offering classes both online and in-person and working hard to assure each student receives the academic support they need.

Our After School program offers students the opportunity to practice skills and seek additional tutoring from 3:15 pm - 6 pm each school day. To support our teachers and our students, we have launched a formal volunteer initiative to assist with some of our needs on campus.

If you are interested in helping with after school activities or tutoring, please click here for more information and to fill out our online application.
Alumnus Earns Top Award
We are pleased to share the good news that St. Peter Claver alumnus, Bob Morrison, received the Lightning Community Hero award, along with his co-honorees Delano Stewart and David McQuay. Together, they founded the Tampa Organization of Black Affairs (TOBA) , a nonprofit organization dedicated to leadership development for Black men and women. They've helped pave the way in diversifying the community by providing equal opportunity for everyone regardless of race or gender.

Know of an alumnus with a great story or accomplishment? Please reach out to us. We would love to hear the news. You can contact Lisa Welch at [email protected].
