Healthy Recipes from Our Kitchen to Yours

Homemade citrus ginger shots!

Directly from the kitchen of our clinical pharmacist, Natalie, comes this recipe that will help keep you healthy all year long.

Made with fresh citrus and ginger, these shots are packed with ingredients that support a healthy immune system. Citrus fruits provide vitamin C, while ginger adds bold flavor and naturally occurring plant compounds that make this an easy wellness-inspired addition to your morning routine.

Recipe:

Juice or blend/strain ingredients together and keep chilled in the fridge for up to 1 week.

  • 1 bunch fresh ginger, peeled
  • 2-3 lemons, peeled
  • 2-3 oranges, peeled
  • Any leftover fruit you have in your kitchen: apples, pineapple, limes, etc.
  • 8-12 oz coconut water
  • Bonus: add fresh turmeric root or 1 tsp turmeric powder and 1/4 tsp black pepper

Top off with 8-12 oz of coconut water and you're good to go!

Prep a batch ahead of time, keep them chilled, and grab one when you want a bright, refreshing start to the day, especially during busy cold and flu season.

Pharmacist Tip of the Month

Don’t Let Cooler Weather Fool You—Ticks Are Still Active

Hunting season and cooler fall weather mean more time outdoors, but ticks can still be active until temperatures stay consistently cold. If we haven’t had a hard freeze yet, it’s still important to protect yourself.

Wear long sleeves and pants when spending time in wooded or grassy areas, use an EPA-registered insect repellent (like OFF Deep Woods), and treat clothing or gear with permethrin when appropriate. After being outdoors, check yourself, children, and pets carefully for ticks - especially around the scalp, waistline, behind the knees, under the arms, and other warm, hidden areas.

If you find a tick, remove it quickly with fine-tipped tweezers by grasping it close to the skin and pulling straight upward. Keep an eye out for a new rash, fever, headache, or unusual body aches afterward, and contact a healthcare provider if symptoms develop.

Community Connected

A letter from the owner:

To all of our wonderful patients,

First, I would like to thank each of you for choosing Bryant Family Pharmacy to care for your family. Bricin and I consider it a blessing to serve our hometown and an honor to be a part of your healthcare team.

When we started Bryant Family Pharmacy 13 years ago, we never could have imagined the profound impact that decision would have on our lives. We put our faith in God and trusted that He would provide the way. Looking back, we can see just how many doors He opened for us. We quickly outgrew our original pharmacy space, remodeled our first building, and eventually built the pharmacy we are in today. Through every season of growth, our community has continued to support us, allowing us to provide the personal care and service that have always been at the heart of Bryant Family Pharmacy.

Over the past 13 years, not only has our pharmacy grown, but so has the community around us. About a year and a half ago, we felt in our hearts that it was time to begin planning for the next chapter. We wanted to find a way to grow alongside our community while staying true to the same mission and values that Bryant Family Pharmacy was built on.

That vision became Parkway Drug.

From the beginning, our goal for Parkway Drug was to create a sister location that offered the same fast, friendly, and personal service our patients have come to know and trust. It gives our patients another convenient option closer to home while still being part of the Bryant Family Pharmacy family.

We are excited to share that Parkway Drug opened last month, and we would love for you to stop by and visit! We are incredibly grateful for your continued support and encourage you and your family to use whichever pharmacy is most convenient for you. Our Parkway team was trained at Bryant Family and is ready to care for you with the same personal attention and commitment you have come to expect from us.

Bryant Family and Parkway Drug may be two pharmacies, but we are one family. After 13 years, we remain incredibly thankful for the opportunity to care for this community and excited to see what thefuture holds for both locations.
