National Philanthropy Day is a special day to recognize and pay tribute to the individuals, organizations and businesses who generously give their time, talents and resources for the enrichment and benefit of our communities. The National Philanthropy Day event is also important for the Santa Barbara-Ventura AFP Chapter because tit raises much-needed funds to keep our chapter thriving. 

AFP empowers individuals and organizations to practice ethical fundraising through professional education, networking, research, and advocacy. It is AFP’s vision to stimulate a world of generosity and positive social good through fundraising best practices. Our members work for a wide variety of nonprofit causes, from education to social justice to the arts. AFP helps fundraising professionals come together to collaborate and support one another for greater efficiency and efficacy of our nonprofit work.

In case you missed it, Andrea McFarling, Philanthropy Officer of Legacy Giving at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, brought her A-game to the "Moving the Needle" session! She broke down legacy giving with real-world data, shared practical tips for building lasting donor relationships, and gave us the inside scoop on how to engage board, staff, and donors of all levels in these efforts. Plus, we got to hear some amazing success stories and tactics from the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
