The Tree of Life

One Step to Volunteering will Reap Rewards

Perhaps you wonder what your Tree of Life looks like? Would you like to contribute to positive community impact? There are opportunities, choices and several threads in the tapestry that you can select from.

If you have a heart for seniors, love kids, enjoy reading, or like connecting with others, we may have a volunteer spot for you. If you are a student, unsure of your career aspirations, if you are a parent entering the empty nest phase of life, or if the pandemic and hurricane have left you alone in your home, there is literally a world out here of good to be made and had.

Inaugural United at Work Summit - Help Open Peoples Eyes

There was a full room, inspiration, tears and emotion. Kevin Graham, Suncoast One Title said, "Our commitment is to stand shoulder to shoulder with like-minded community leaders."

"We have insights of what can come next, target ALICE and the working people." expressed Peter Soderberg, Elsa and Peter Soderberg Charitable Foundation.

Troy C. Smith, Motivational Speaker, spoke about creating environments where everyone can thrive. He continued "Put your distractions down, lean in and listen with intentionality whether you are at work or home. Understand and confirm those around you while giving them a safe space."

"Today begins different. The things we can build - we can build together. It all comes from investing in people, the people in our community." stated Angie Matthiessen, Executive Director.

Be a Reading Buddy! You can sign up for the November 8th Reading Buddy Training here. Charlotte County Reads seeks volunteers to help our students attain reading proficiency. We have a bold goal that 75% of the students in our Reading Buddy program will attain a 3, 4, or 5 on standardized tests by 2028. If you can spend one hour per week after school, there are many volunteer locations to choose from all over the county!
