BUSY MONTH AHEAD
Summer is over, and we continue to soldier through our pandemic-circumscribed days. Lucky for us, members of the 14 West Hamilton Street Club have developed creative ways to cope. The Speakers and Special Events Committees, with help of several other members, filled summer days with stimulating Zoom presentations. As you will see below, more great events are scheduled for this month.
Chef Charlotte Galley continues to create delectable meals to take out or eat on the deck. Meals are available for pickup at the Club and [possibly ]delivery from Tuesday through Friday. If you would like a meal, reply to the Menu email that comes out the day before it's available. If you need delivery, let us know - we accommodate when we can. Lunches are picked up between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Check your Club emails for the next day’s menu.
In these difficult times, remember that ordering meals helps sustain the Club’s financial health.
STAFF DEVELOPMENTS
General Manager Jules Cantonwine regrets she had to leave the Club to deal with the coronavirus’s impact on her family’s retail establishments. Nevertheless, our operations are in great shape. We are lucky to benefit from Lynn Davidson’s (Chef Charlotte’s mother) skilled handling of the Club's billing and business affairs at least through the end of this year. Chef Charlotte has also stepped up and taken over communications and other duties while she continues to create scrumptious meals. If you have the opportunity, thank them for their fine work.
UPCOMING PROGRAMS
In the coming month as the daylight diminishes and the temperatures drop, the Club will be offering more opportunities to hear speakers and participate in discussions. OCTOBER NOON ZOOM LUNCHES WITH HOSTS
For 95 years, noontime lunch discussions have been the Club’s hallmark. If you are missing a good lunchtime chat, take the opportunity to participate in one or more of the 13 hosted Noon Zoom lunches in October, which replace the pre-COVID in-person, small-group lunches held in the downstairs dining room. We have added hosts to ensure that everyone enjoys good fellowship via Zoom.
These remote lunch discussions offer an opportunity to bring a guest from anywhere in the U.S. Or, use a lunch discussion to reconnect with an old friend. Just send him or her a copy of the link below (in blue). The full Zoom instructions are at the bottom of the page. Also, you can volunteer to host one of these lunches. Pick a date below and offer to replace our regular host or choose a date in a future month. Call Sam Hopkins at 410-935-8540.
