Work has begun on remodeling the closed car repair shop at 6116 N. Elston Ave. A permit for the work was issued in August.
Alderman Gardiner has introduced an ordinance to lift the moratorium on new packaged liquor licenses on Milwaukee Avenue between Ardmore Avenue and Peterson Avenue. The Chamber has not been notified of the reason for the lifting of the moratorium, but it may be to allow for a new convenience store to open inside the former 7-Eleven store at Milwaukee and Austin avenues.

The Chicago Public Schools is planning to purchase the former Saint Cornelius School, 5252 N. Long Ave., along with the rectory and convent for a new early education center. The church remains part of the new Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish.
A phone repair business is opening at 6333 N. Milwaukee Ave., and a hair salon is seeking to open at 5525 N. Milwaukee Ave. The salon requires the issuance of a special use from the Zoning Board of Appeals, which will hold a public hearing on the matter.
