Reach-Connect-Grow-Serve

We see a welcoming family, living the Gospel of Grace. We see a family where people can safely seek, question, and be revived.  We see a family energized by the Spirit alive in our midst.

" So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you."

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT)

Pastor Cindy's Hours

For the month of October Pastor Cindy will be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please feel free to stop in.

We appreciate you and everything you do!!! This month, Spirit Alive would like to thank the following people:
  • All our our hard-working media volunteers -  Dave Jordan, Shawn DeVore, Jenni DeVore, Anne Pientock, Nicki Slye, Ryan Oldani, Cameron Jeffson and Steve Doherty.
  • Donna Johnson for running two small groups - Koinonia and Messy Spirituality.
  • Carl Johnson for providing pulpit support when needed.
  • Our communion assistants - Corlis Hatcher, Jenni DeVore, Denise Maki, Corkey Munsen, Donna Johnson, and Jenni Parkinson.
We truly would not be Spirit Alive without you!
Hoorah! It's Socktober Again!!!

This morning I could feel a chill in the air, so I put on my nice, soft, warm socks. This made me realize the simple blessing a cozy pair of socks makes.

Once again Spirit Alive, along with St. Paul's, will be collecting socks for the ELCA Outreach Center. Last year our generosity brought in over 900 pairs of socks.

Can we beat this total? Only with your help. A collection basket is in the Narthex. Please bring your socks in during the month of October.

ELCA Disaster Relief for Hurricane Florence - Please Pray

Hurricane Florence has devastated our neighbors in  North and South Carolina, leaving millions without power, thousands of homes damaged or destroyed, hundreds of road closures and 37 reported deaths.  Rising rivers kept displaced communities away from their homes for days, and the extent of the damage is not yet fully known.

For more information see their website/blog.

Coat Drive for ELCA Outreach Center

A big thanks to everyone that participated in our coat drive for the ELCA Outreach center. Together with St. Paul's we collected just over $460 toward the purchase of men's coats sizes XL-XXXL, which allowed us to buy 8 brand new coats. In addition, we collected 19 coats: 4 children's, 5 ladies, and 10 men's, for a grand total of 27 coats!

Executive Director, Karl Erickson was very appreciative of our efforts to bring in these coats. For the large-size men's coats, they have individuals in mind and will match the coats up with them. Thanks again for your generosity!

Animal Blessing
  three_small_dogs_running.jpg

You care for people and animals alike, O LORD. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! Psalm 36:6

Women and Children's Horizon Support Group
  closeup_pink_babys_breath.jpg
"I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE.
I SHARED MY STORY.
NOW I'M NOT ALONE."

Women and Children's Horizons offers a weekly support group for women in mid-life and for women with disabilities of any age who are or were in a controlling relationship. This group nurtures beyond what friends and family can do. Creating relationships with others whose experiences have been similar to their own can fill the gap and meet the need for understanding. Keeping a person isolated is a tactic used by controlling people. This group helps break that isolation, educates about the dynamics of a controlling relationship, and highlights sharing when ready, safety planning, exploring options and enhancing self-esteem. The group meets at a wheel chair accessible sight. Services are free and confidential.
Please call Women and Children's Horizons for more information at 262-656-3500, ext. 104.
