October 2018
Message from President Mónica García
Dear Change-makers,
Feeling inspired and challenged in this changing world? Welcome to the struggle! We have worked together to open our schools well; to welcome families, school teams and all youngsters arriving to new environments & opportunities. Whatever your personal challenges, we invite you to lean into inspiration & optimism at L.A. Schools. My mom arrived at Stevenson Middle School not knowing anyone. She found people and professionals that assisted with support to find her way. That story repeats today. L.A. Unified is part of the journey for so many students, parents, employees, and community members, all impacted by our individual, and more importantly, collective action.
Thank you, community of L.A. Unified. Thank you for modeling problem-solving, compassion, learning, service and leadership. You build for our community’s well-being every day. You invest in possibility every day. You inspire and provide focus on our mission every day. Our children and families deserve our very best every day. My mom, our families and countless other individuals that make up this community are grateful.
In the Spirit of Hope,

Mónica García
