Meal Recovery Coalition

Launch Summit

Sparrow House had the privilege of attending the Meal Recovery Coalition Launch Summit at Rutgers University, hosted by Share My Meals Inc. Governor Phil Murphy and Assemblyman Craig J. Coughlin both spoke highly of the efforts of the coalition and their success in recovering meals and meeting the challenge of food insecurity and food waste.

Through partnerships between corporations, nonprofits, and the government, 5 million meals can be recovered from school and corporate cafeterias and placed in the hands of those in need.

New Jersey is the leading state in meal recovery, and Sparrow House is excited to be part of this truly effective coalition to help those who are hungry and lack access to nutritious food.

Mercy Receives a Car

A woman of strength and determination, a mom, a parolee, and a person on a journey to help others, Mercy has been working hard at putting her life back on track after experiencing many setbacks including homelessness.

To help Mercy thrive and move forward in her journey, a very generous and thoughtful donor has gifted her a car! Mercy will soon begin an educational program where she will become a certified Peer Recovery Specialist and will also secure employment, both requiring transportation.

Congratulations Mercy, and a special thank you to the kind donor for this incredible gift!
