CEO CORNER

Greetings! I am excited to be back from my temporary leave and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have taken a pause and for the amazing backbone team of Norwalk ACTS for stepping in to take on additional responsibilities in my absence. A special thank you to Jesse who shouldered much of the load.

My leave was everything I hoped for and needed it to be. While a highlight was definitely crossing off a big bucket list trip to the Pacific Northwest, it was the slower pace and the resetting of my nervous system that was what was so helpful to my renewal. Focusing on the role of mom and getting my children back into a school routine without additional stress was nothing short of a gift. The juggle and strain on parents who work outside the home is something that deserves greater attention and conversation, so I was pleased to see that the US Surgeon General issued a parental mental health advisory a few weeks ago to draw attention to this issue

I believe we change systems when we start making changes ourselves instead of waiting for the systems to shift. And I am grateful for, and proud of, the Norwalk ACTS community for supporting me on this journey to amplify this conversation and changing how we think and operate. I look forward to celebrating all the things that make our Norwalk ACTS community so wonderful at our upcoming celebration event on October 22nd. Don’t miss it, register today!

In recent weeks, members of the Norwalk ACTS team attended two distinct StriveTogether convenings out of state, each offering valuable insights that will guide the refinement of the Connecticut Cradle to Career Coalition’s 2025 statewide policy agenda and advocacy efforts.

Our agenda centers on three key strategic goals: Early Childhood Development and Education Equity, Economic Mobility and Financial Security, and Inclusive and Equitable Medical and Behavioral Health Care.

In addition, the Coalition will advocate for the inclusion of its members in the implementation and evaluation of any legislation passed within its areas of expertise.
