October Edition

A Message from the Mayor

September was a busy month for Vaughan! With council meetings back in session, there has been much on the go. My first Annual Charity Golf Classic took place in September, and it was a fantastic day spent with more than 100 golfers who gathered to support the Spirit of Generosity, an initiative that is inspiring positive change in Vaughan and beyond.

On Monday, October 23, we will be hosting our next town hall meeting in Ward 2 at Al Palladini Community Centre, and I look forward to seeing you there.

As we look ahead at November, we have much to look forward to. We will be hosting our first ever Diwali Celebration at Vaughan City Hall. The celebration is on Monday, November 20 at 6:00pm. All are welcomed and we look forward to celebrating with you!

IN THE NEWS

Vaughan has always been a destination of choice that people dream of calling home and where future generations wish to raise their families, start businesses, and enjoy an unrivalled quality of life.

From the moment I became Mayor less than a year ago in November 2022, I have worked alongside my Council colleagues to advance critical initiatives that will shape and strengthen Vaughan’s promising future, like more housing options and plans to improve the road network throughout our city to combat gridlock and support our already growing population.

This past March the federal government launched the Housing Accelerator Fund program. That same month, Vaughan Council committed to achieving the Ontario government's Housing Pledge and the City's provincially mandated housing targets to facilitate the construction of 42,000 new homes in the city by 2031.

Our kids and grandkids shouldn't be priced out of the neighbourhoods they grew up in. Our job is to give them every opportunity to succeed and a big part of that is delivering more affordable options for housing, close to home.

All funds raised during the tournament have be directed to the Spirit of Generosity, which continues its meaningful support of more than 200 not-for-profit and community organizations, including children and youth groups, healthcare initiatives, seniors’ organizations and special needs programs.
