Rhonda Musak, Acting Coach

As an acting coach, I help actors unlock the magic of their acting.
At first, Rhonda's techniques seemed far-fetched, but they came with an alluring, tender asterisk: "Commit to this, and you'll see." Before I knew it, I was doing things I never thought I had in me.

October means birthday month for Art & Soul Acting. On October 26...

Happy 8th Birthday Art & Soul!

It has been a wonderful 8 years of holding space for my students' growth. For all whom I have worked with personally, you have truly filled my heart with joy as I have been honored to have been a part of your learning process. Thank you!

To that end, I was thrilled in September to bring my work to Bowdoin College in Maine. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we all walked away excited and inspired by the work accomplished during my Art of Imaginative Rehearsal workshop.

Teaching at Bowdoin College

Post-workshop, I've been geeking out over this Stanislavski quote:

"Most actors seem to think you only have to work in rehearsal and that you can relax at home. That's not the way it is at all. All you learn from rehearsal is what you have to work on at home."

As we are now heading toward the end of 2018, I have announced below tentative dates for my annual Leap with Passion Workshop. I'm aiming to have these dates firmed up by the beginning of November.

Leap with Passion into 2019 kicks off my 11th year of leading this workshop. If you've never taken the Leap with Passion into the new year, perhaps 2019 will be your year?

And one more save-the-date for your calendar, the launch of the Rhonda Badonda Salon Series.

Wishing you a fall filled with artistic expression and creative delights!

Somewhere Along the Line, Warm-Ups Got a Bad Rap
by Rhonda S. Musak

Oh, relax now! I don't mean the requisite warm-ups for athletes or musicians. Heavens no! And I'm not talking about the crucial warm-ups that dancers or singers must do to be at their best. Certainly not! If you fall within any one of these categories, feel free to warm up to your heart's content.

The warm-ups with the bad rap belong solely to actors.

Ballerinas do their pliƩ's, pianists play their scales and actors have a cigarette and a cup of coffee. Okay, that might be a bit dramatic (or extremely truthful), but sometimes our first inclination when we see an actor warming up...
