Abdi Nor Iftin talks about his experience growing up in Somalia where loving the United States and supporting democracy became dangerous under al-Shabaab. He'll shed light on the difficult visa process and his path from Kenya to Maine where he's now on track to become a US citizen.

On Friday October 18 at 7:00 pm , workshop participants led by Cheryl Hamilton of the International Institute of New England, will share their stories about the experience of coming to America. This program is an offshoot of the larger Suitcase Stories series which features professional storytellers sharing their own experiences as refugees and immigrants to this country. Authors must be in grades K - 8
One author per story; one story each
Stories must be typed or neatly written, and have a beginning, a middle, and an end
Stories do not need illustrations
Stories should be spooky and/or scary!
Contest Celebration with readings, snacks and prizes!

Book Sale Success!
The Friends are proud to announce that the weekend booksale earned around $24,000! This is in addition to earning over $9,300 at the spring sale and another $7,400 from the book cart sale in the library over the past twelve months. That is over $40,000 in booksales over the past year. Thanks so much to everyone who helps coordinate the sales, everyone who donates books, and all those who support the library!
