Ellen's Book Review

Dianne Kelly's

House Flipper Mysteries

This is a charming cozy mystery series set in Nashville, Tennessee. The six books (so far) follow the adventures of Whitney Whitaker, a spirited carpenter and real estate agent. Along with her cousin Buck and her cat Sawdust, she stumbles upon various murder mysteries while flipping houses. I like the series for its light-hearted humor, engaging plots, the endearing character of Whitney, and the interesting accounts of their rehabbing of houses, a midcentury motel, a houseboat, a church, and a fire station. The House Flipper Mysteries offer a good mix of intrigue and entertainment, making them a great pick for those who enjoy cozy mysteries with a dash of home improvement and a strong, likable protagonist. Kelly’s ability to craft a compelling narrative with each book ensures that readers will look forward to Whitney’s next renovation project—and the inevitable mystery that comes with it. The first entries in the series are book 1: Dead as a Door Knocker, book 2: Dead in the Doorway, book 3: Murder with a View.
