KY Women in Agriculture Conference 🎃🌻🌹
Wendell Foster was approached with the opportunity to participate in the 2022 Kentucky Women in Agriculture Annual Conference on October 10 th-12th. This year’s conference, “Rooted in Community” took place at the Owensboro Convention Center and focused on agriculture’s connection in our communities. You may remember Wendell Foster’s agriculture connection from the April edition of our newsletter. Our founders, Wendell and Edith Foster, were able to get back on their feet due to a generous donation of food from local farmers. On the first day of the conference, Community Engagement Specialist Gabby Bradley spoke to conference attendees on the generosity of local farmers during our humble beginnings, and how our organization has been rooted in the Owensboro community for 75 years.
On the final day of the conference, we welcomed conference attendees to our campus for a tour and service learning project. The ladies used their agricultural talents to make pumpkin floral arrangements with our residents. The arrangements were a huge hit, and our residents formed bonds with the women upon minutes of meeting each other! Both conference attendees and residents left the workshop with lasting friendships.
We’d like to thank the Kentucky Women in Agriculture Association, especially Kristie Guffey, for giving us the opportunity to share our mission. We hope to have this amazing group of women back on our campus soon!

A Day at Mulligan Farm 🚜🌾
What better way to enjoy the fall season than with some hayrides?! Wendell Foster residents were treated to a day at Mulligan Farm, complete with lunch and hayrides! The Mulligan-Edge Family approached Wendell Foster with an invitation to bring our residents to their farm for a visit. It had previously been a tradition for Lois Edge, a member of the family and a prominent supporter of Wendell Foster, to take residents on hayrides throughout the Whitesville area. The family was interested in bringing back the tradition this fall, and offered to host us at their farm. Residents couldn't wait for their turn on the hayride, and the weather was absolutely perfect for a fun-filled day! Thank you to the Mulligan-Edge Family for bringing smiles to our residents' faces!
