It's FALL! October kicks off with the perennial favorite,  Fall Fairyland and ends with an all NEW  Enchanted Forest Adventure.

Let's not forget the weekly  Fall Color Hikes on Tuesdays led by our fabulous volunteer team - Denis Lovell and Richard Hitt.  

The Art Series at Owl's Hill has two full day classes in November:  one in Watercolor Basics led by Elizabeth Stanford and Rachael McCampbell will teach Acrylic Techniques in Still Life Painting.

Knee-High Naturalists: Batty for Bats - Parents & Kids Ages 3-5
Tuesday, October 3 & Wednesday October 4
10:00am - 11:30am
Cost:  $10 one adult + one child / $7 each additional person 

Batty for Bats! Did you know that bats are the only mammals that can fly?  Did you know that a single bat can eat over 1000 insects in an hour?  Join us as we learn more about these wonderful creatures that are so misunderstood.

Fairyland is back!  Participants are invited to collect natural materials from the orchards and meadows of Owl's Hill or purchase special items with "fairy gold" at the Gnome Depot. Pick a spot around Fairyland and create a dwelling fit for a fairy or elf, while visiting,enjoy the natural beauty of our woods .

Fall Color Hikes - Adults Only

9:30am - 11:30am
Cost:  $7 / hiker 

Fall is upon us! This series of guided walks is just for adults and allows one to follow the progression of fall at Owl's Hill. Walks begin promptly at 9:30; reservations suggested. Cameras and binoculars welcome .

Free Hike Day - All Ages
Saturday, October 14, 2017   
Cost: FREE

Come out to Owl's Hill for a free hike! Join one of our staff members or volunteers on a guided hike through Owl's Hill. This is a great opportunity for families, individuals, and small groups to come enjoy the trails of Owl's Hill and get some exercise. The hike will be approximately two to three miles with some moderate hill climbs included. Hikes will start at 1:00 .

Enchanted Forest - Kids & Families

Cost:  $12 / person (Children 2 & Under FREE)

The woodlands of Owl's Hill will come alive once again with the Enchanted Forest, which will give families the opportunity to experience a trail adventure that's fun and educational--not scary. 

Enchanted Forest Adventure times:

11:15am                    1:15pm

Each Enchanted Forest Adventure includes:
* A guided walk to meet our animal friends in the Enchanted Forest
* A hayride
* A live animal presentation
* Facepainting and warm apple cider with a snack at the pavilion

Children and adults are invited to get into the spirit of the season by wearing costumes. 

Watercolor Basics with Elizabeth Sanford - Adults Only 
Saturday, November 4, 2017   
Cost: $75 (includes all art supplies)

Learn the basics of watercolor in this workshop for beginners. Explore paint, paper and brush options, as well as the 3 main kinds of color mixing. Be inspired by the beauty of Owl's Hill as you experiment with fun and easy techniques to paint simple subjects. All supplies are provided. Learn more about the artist at  elizabethsanford.com

Acrylic Techniques in Still Life Painting with Rachael McCampbell- Adults Only
Saturday, November 18, 2017
9:00am - 4:00pm
Cost:  $100 per person (please bring your own lunch)

Golden Acrylics Certified teacher, Rachael McCampbell, will share the latest acrylic techniques and applications when painting a still-life for the day. The focus will be on composition, color mixing, painting techniques and learning new skills with acrylic paints. A still-life arrangement will be setup to paint or you can bring a photo of your own arrangement to paint. 

Supplies included in class: charcoal, water containers, table easels and some brushes. 

Students must bring: acrylic paint, canvas or panels to paint on, palettes and their favorite brushes and utensils. More details to follow once you've registered.

Welcome Trailwalkers

Who are Trailwalkers?
Trailwalkers are donors of $250 or more during the year. 
When can we come walk/hike the trails?
Our 10 miles of trails are open to you to walk whenever Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary is open. Gates are open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and  Sundays 1 p.m. - 4 p.m . Hiking privileges do not include admission to programs that may be going on during your visit.  We hope to see you on the trails!
