October 2023 Newsletter

MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD

Welcome October!

Although we are entering fall, the new season in Horseshoe Bay still brings us pretty warm and sunny days with slightly cooler mornings. Even if the weather has not marked the season, your HSB POA is excited planning this year’s Fall Fest and Chili Cook-Off!

Bringing the community together and community outreach is a very important task that your Board of Directors takes very seriously. We focus on getting our residents involved and engaged in our planned events which contribute to help facilitate local awareness, serve as a starting point for connection, bring economic benefit for local vendors and artisans, and build a strong community spirit. We are very grateful for your participation and encourage everyone to get involved by partaking in our events and attending our monthly Board Meetings. This month’s Board of Directors Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 18 at 9:00 AM at Quail Point.

Does your chili recipe have what is takes to win this year’s Chili Cook-Off? The winner will be awarded a full year of bragging rights! If you would like to enter our friendly competition, please contact our HSBPOA office at 830-598-8795. Participants are asked to cook their chili onsite and be prepared to make enough chili to hand out some samples to our visitors. Visitors get award our People’s Choice award to their favorite chili team.

Your HSBPOA is gearing up for nominations of our upcoming two openings on the Board of Directors for the 2024 – 2027 term. The nomination process opens in November, and we encourage all of our residents to consider getting involved and become part of a very active HSB POA Board of Directors. A strong and functional POA board is integral to the success of our community. For more information, please email poa@hsbpoa.org or call your HSB POA at 830-598-8795.

If you would like to participate in the Fall Festival as a chili cooker or even as a vendor, we are still accepting applicants. Click here for the form to enter. Thank you!

On Saturday, October 14, there will be a partial eclipse that will start around 10:30 AM and will have a 'ring of fire' effect around 11:53 AM.

This astronomical event will be note-worthy but different from the eclipse happening in April 2024.

The eclipse happening in April 2024 is a total eclipse, whereas this month's eclipse is an annular eclipse.

Here is a map of the upcoming eclipse events:
