“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” — Proverbs 27:17
As October comes to a close, I’m struck by the ways God has moved through our congregation this month. We’ve celebrated significant milestones together—handing out over 100 Bibles to our community, welcoming a new child through baptism, and celebrating 11 young confirmands. Each of these moments is a powerful reminder of our mission and the joy of sharing life in Christ as “iron sharpens iron.”
Thank you to each of you who supported these ministries through your prayers, time, and resources. Every act of service and generosity makes it possible for us to continue this work. As you read through this newsletter, know that you are a vital part of what God is doing at BLC.
Rev. Dr. Gerard Bolling—Lead Pastor

Spanish Lake EAC
Every month, we’re thrilled to spotlight one of our EAC sites! Across four locations in North City St. Louis, we serve hundreds of kids, providing safe, welcoming spaces where they can thrive. These hubs of hope exist because of the dedication and teamwork of so many: from our incredible daily staff to food service teams, drivers, and the generous donors who fuel this mission. It’s a true community effort, with countless hands and hearts making a lasting difference in the lives of these children!
Specifically, our Spanish Lake site is thriving! The kids are growing, learning, and discovering more about Jesus each day. We love the opportunity to serve them and watch their creativity shine—especially through projects like these recent arts and crafts.

Halloween Party and Bible Handout
This month, we enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship and outreach. At our annual Halloween Party, kids collected candy, played games, showed off their costumes, and wrapped up the day with a fun movie—an event made possible by the efforts of many in our community.
We also had the joy of sharing God’s Word by handing out over 100 Bibles to those in our neighborhood, ensuring anyone interested could take home a Bible. Witnessing the excitement and gratitude from so many was truly inspiring.

Thank You Holy Cross!
We’re deeply thankful to the group from Holy Cross in Kearney, Nebraska for making the long journey to help us transform our building! They took on the huge task of repainting our entire main floor from teal to red, bringing new energy to our space. Serving alongside them was a joy, and we had a wonderful time connecting over dinner and a fun evening at Top Golf.

Thank you Lutheran North
Thank you to Lutheran North's students for their remarkable contribution to our community. As part of their Faith in Action Day, two groups of high schoolers joined us on-site this month getting lots of work done. Also, their middle school classmates crafted hundreds of sanitary product kits to support our new ministry. They volunteered in our school and childcare and even tackled building clean-up projects with impressive dedication. Seeing these young students serve with us was a powerful reminder of what it means to live out our faith together.
