Philanthropic Young Ones

The Sparrow House team has been witness to many philanthropic acts by children, even though most of them do not know what the word philanthropic means. Instead of adults viewing "kids today" as self-oriented and solely focused on their own needs, they can feel reassured that kids today have a natural capacity to be thoughtful, selfless, other-centered, and have an instinct to care for those in need.

Benjamin*, a young 12-year-old boy, happened to ride his bike by the Sparrow House center with a friend and stopped to ask a volunteer "What is Sparrow House?" When hearing about our mission, he instinctively reached into his pocket and pulled out a crumpled one dollar bill, asking if he can give to our cause.

Sebastian and Cole enjoy sharing their candy and handing it out to the folks in line for food!

Eight-year-old Kayleigh loves serving on the Sparrow House team and shares her warm smile with everyone!

Siblings Georgie* and Adam* have fun handing out items that are treats to have when experiencing poverty!

There are many more young ones who continuously give of their time and make efforts to serve alongside the Sparrow House team and lift the spirits of families and individuals who are struggling. Whether collectively or on their own, children are leading the charge in making a positive difference with those in need. We applaud them wholeheartedly!

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

Gill St. Bernard's School

A heartfelt thank-you to Gill St. Bernard's School, Gladstone for providing recovered meals (food prepared but not used) for passing along to our Newark friends in need. The nutritious food made by the chefs at the school is thoroughly enjoyed by those we serve, it nourishes both body and soul, and it lifts countless spirits every week.

We appreciate the care that goes into the meals and it is felt by each person served!

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

American Christian School

Thank you to the students at American Christian School, Rockaway for making sandwiches for families and individuals in need. The encouraging notes and sandwiches were a huge hit, and they helped those struggling feel cared about.

We appreciate your support and thoughtful spirit!

Succasunna United Methodist Church

A big thank-you to the women's group at Succasunna United Methodist Church for making 60 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! PB&J sandwiches are one of the top requested food items because they last for several days and do not need to be eaten immediately.

Thanks to you, we have a nice supply of tooth-brushes, but we are out of toothpaste! Dental hygiene is a high priority for those we serve and we want to support that good habit. Travel size toothpaste works best, but we will take any size!

Your donations are very much appreciated!
