RAGA YOGA NOW OPEN IN
SHADELANDS SPORTSMALL
|
CJ Lamborn has been practicing yoga for twenty years, and in the business of teaching yoga and Pilates for fifteen. It’s been her dream to have her own branded yoga studio, and now that dream has come true with the opening of
Raga Yoga
, a 1,000-SF studio with a 300-SF lobby at 2662 Shadelands Drive in the Shadelands SportsMall.
Open seven days a week to cater to working members, Raga Yoga classes are held throughout the day—morning, lunchtime, and evenings, with a few late afternoon sessions.
Raga Yoga's space is warm and welcoming—a quiet place to think, meditate, and practice yoga, with accents of blue representing the sky and oceans, and wide windows that embrace the sunlight.
CJ is primarily a Vinyasa teacher, which is a flowing, athletic style of practice in which people move from one pose to another, seamlessly, using breath—linking each pose to an inhale and an exhale.
With a staff of seven multi-discipline teachers, CJ notes, a variety of yoga styles for beginners through advanced, from traditional to functional, are taught at Raga Yoga.
And there's something at Raga Yoga not available elsewhere: CJ’s own branded Aerial Stretch Therapy, AST—low slung hammocks, 12 to 18 inches off the ground, used to alleviate joint pressure and support functional ranges of motion through a variety of yoga poses and movement patterns.
CJ has found a need among practitioners to train for strength and technique in order to stay healthy and injury free while advancing in their practice.
“That’s why I'm so excited to be a part of the SportsMall, a facility for higher level athletes. I couldn’t think of a better place to be, for myself, my practice, and my studio," says CJ, who co-owns Raga Yoga with her husband, Bruce.

The acquisition of QMPV, along with newly acquired IronRidge and previously acquired EcoFasten, has created the largest rooftop solar mounting and racking hardware group in the U.S., representing more than 60% share of the residential market.
Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Shadelands since 2012, Quick Mount PV now has access to one of the world's leading innovation labs and intellectual property portfolios in the solar rooftop hardware industry, as well as strong financial backing.
QMPV will retain its executive team and staff and continue to operate as a separate entity with unique product lines and sales channels. QMPV will also retain its independent brand name while becoming 'An Esdec Company.'

MEET DR. PAUL MEAD,
NEW TO MUIR ORTHO
|
Orthopedic surgeon Paul Mead, MD, a specialist in hip and knee replacements and joint preservation, has joined
Muir Orthopaedic Specialists
(Muir Ortho), located in the 46,000-SF Muir Ortho Sequoia Building at 2405 Shadelands Drive.
Dr. Mead earned his degree from New York Medical college, did his residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center (San Francisco), and completed a fellowship at Scripps Green Hospital (La Jolla), where he trained extensively in hip and knee replacement, reconstruction, and advanced osteochondral joint preservation techniques.
Osteochondral allografts (cartilage and bone implants that come from donors) are highly successful alternatives to full hip and knee replacements, particularly for younger patients who are not ready for more major surgery.
“Young patients with significant lesions in their cartilage due to injury, trauma, or genetics need a way to remain functional with a normal lifestyle and without pain,” says Dr. Mead. “We’ve had great success with osteochondral allografts and for many of our patients, that means we can push off doing the big hip or knee replacement for decades, sometimes."
It was at New York Medial College that Dr. Mead fell in love with orthopedics during surgery rotations.
“The functional recovery of my patients was amazing,” he says. “I hadn’t seen anything like this in medical school. This was a clear and certain way to get positive, concrete results benefiting the patient right away. To give people their lives back—for me, that was quite meaningful.”
Dr. Mead spends a good deal of time researching the techniques, designs, and implants that will give people the most natural-feeling hip or knee so they can get back to engaging in sports, or walking and hiking, or playing with their grandchildren.

Since 1994, Share the Spirit has raised more than $3 million, made more than 600 grants, and helped 700,000 people in local communities. The Contra Costa Crisis Center administers the program.
