MPA Attended Wisconsin Local History and Preservation Conference in

Appleton on October 17th.

MPA had a strong representation at this year’s

PastForward conference in New Orleans, LA!

If the excitement of the conference wasn't enough, our Executive Director Emma had the honor to invite everyone to next year’s 2025 conference…

in MILWAUKEE!

After recent issues with communicating our ownership, the Tavern has new construction signage.

Over the next few weeks you may see construction workers, equipment and lifts on site - we're sealing the building up for winter! This includes boarding up windows and patching holes in the roof to stop as much snow and rain from coming in as possible.

Restoration is scheduled to begin early Spring of 2025!

As always, special thanks to Berglund Construction for their continued work on this phase!

Want to keep informed as the Tavern Project unfolds? We’ll post updates as often as they happen on our website!

ADVOCACY

100 E Wisconsin

It may not be what we typically think of when we say “National Register Worthy”, but 100 E is a shining example of Postmodernism in Milwaukee. For sustainability sake and the preservation of this building, we encourage anyone who is willing to write a letter to the State Historic Preservation Office in support of this National Register Nomination, going before council mid-November.

Please send any letters of support to elizabeth.hilton@wisconsinhistory.org.

Friends of the Domes' Vision Plan

The Friends of the Domes vision plan was unveiled at the September County Board Meeting. MPA was proud to support the plan and we encourage all of our followers to stay connected. The vote on the plan should go before committee by the end of the year!

Summerfield United Methodist Church

We are working directly with the developer, JODI Development, to discuss a plan that is thoughtful and prioritizes the history of the building. To see some of JODI’s conversion work, please visit their website.

Thank you to everyone who has utilized our Advocacy Form already!

Office Updates

We've been working hard behind the scenes to better serve our membership and the community. Some things we've been working on:

  • We've partnered with Insect Hobby Design, a Milwaukee local, to bring a fresh take to MPA's branding and website and the project is well underway. We're so excited to have a new look to reveal soon!
  • We recently wrapped up our 5+ year Strategic Plan with Square Root Consulting and are ready to get to work!
  • We’re pleased to announce we’ve been working with Sabljak & Budisch to ensure a strong, sustainable future for MPA.

We thank you for your continued support and assure you, even when things are a little quiet, we’re working hard to make preservation mainstream in Milwaukee!

Tours are officially over for the season. Didn't make a tour but still want to have a guide? We accept Private Tour requests for groups of 10 or more throughout the year, and there’s also a self-guided walking tour app available. Please visit our website for more information.
