October Signature Lunch Meeting - Here's What You Missed... | |
In October, we had a completely full house at our Signature Lunch Meeting, as we hosted Councilman James "Smuggie" Mitchell from the City of Charlotte for a special discussion on the incredible opportunities that come from having your business certified with the City.
Some of the details Councilman Mitchell covered include:
- What are the short- and long-term benefits of doing business with the City?
- What’s the current success rate of minority-owned business contracts?
- How does the City ensure quality bids are considered, not just the lowest price?
- What initiatives does the City have in place to attract more certified businesses?
It was a phenomenal discussion and the atmosphere was full of energy. We are so grateful to Councilman Mitchell for taking time away from his very busy schedule to spend a few hours with the women of NAWBO Charlotte. If you are interested in learning more about certifying your business with the city, we are hosting a certification event in conjunction with the City on Thursday, November 14th via Zoom. You can register for that event below.
If you missed the meeting, we hope you will join us on November 12th for our next Signature Meeting. You can register below!

This is in keeping with National Women’s Small Business Month, which recognizes the myriad of achievements of female entrepreneurs and the positive impact they are making on jobs and the economy. NAWBO Charlotte has spearheaded this exciting local tradition for many years, and we are so grateful to the City and to Mayor Lyles for their continued support of women business owners.

It is a great place to share wins and frustrations, bounce ideas off of, and to build camaraderie and a circle of trust.
Wondering if a Mastermind can benefit you? If you are interested in hearing about Mastermind groups and/or joining one, please reach out to our Mastermind Chairs, Zulma or Pam. Their contact info can be found below.
