Preservation Trust of Vermont
Accessibility & Maintenance Planning
October 9-10, 2017
Grand Isle Lake House
Many of Vermont's historic buildings are both beautiful and challenging to maintain. Bringing these structures up to current building code requirements for accessibility can also be confusing and require a creative approach.

Are you struggling with how to balance preserving the historic integrity of your building with meeting accessibility requirements? Is your building in need of maintenance, but you don't know where to begin?

In this retreat we will explore the complex issues of providing accessibility while preserving the integrity and character of historic properties and will discuss maintenance planning for your historic property.

Please join us on October 9 - 10 for the Accessibility and Maintenance Planning Retreat and explore how Preservation Trust and our partners might help!

A Personal Approach to Preservation
The Preservation Retreats at the Grand Isle Lake House are designed to be interactive and project specific. Your group will be asked to focus on an issue or challenge that once addressed, would help move your project to the next level. You will be joined by others who are working on similar types of projects along with potential funders and technical assistance providers.

Together we can help connect you with the resources you need to accomplish your goals.

Have more than one big issue or challenge? Don't worry! We have found that when groups working on similar types of projects get together, they learn from one another and find that the group discussions offer insights into your individual projects in ways that were not anticipated.

"Coming to the retreat gives you a real sense of possibility. We can do this! Knowing there are others out there to support the work we are doing is just so encouraging."

-- Judith Jackson, Irasburg

All retreats begin at 3:00 pm and end after lunch the following day.  Space is limited to around 20 participants with a limited number of single rooms, so reservations should be made as early as possible. The 2017 costs are $95 for a shared room and $125 for a single room.  Pre-registration is required.

Projects at all stages of development are welcome.  If you are not sure if the upcoming retreat is the right fit for you, feel free to give me a call.   Lisa Ryan, 802-917-2994.
