Leaves of Gold!

As the weather turns autumnal, we find our thoughts turning as well -- to our annual Leaves of Gold concert. We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday, December 13 th , Rosario Resort will once more be hosting us in their lovely Music Room (with a luscious buffet reception to follow, in the Orcas Room). We will be treated to music by Jackie and Aloysia along with festival favorite, cellist Desmond Hoebig. It is our last big event of 2018, guaranteed to be magical. Get your tickets now, by calling (360) 376-6636 or writing [email protected] . Tickets are $150 ($75 of which is tax deductible) which includes great music followed by that amazing reception and, as always, all your OICMF friends attired in their holiday finery!
A Truly Amazing Evening

As many of you learned in the Islands' Sounder or on Facebook, I recently had the great honor of being asked, thanks to a recommendation from former Festival artist Paul Hansen, to be a saw soloist with the Seattle Symphony at their Opening Gala on September 15 th . The piece was the Khachaturian Piano Concerto with pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet (of course, to me, perhaps the best thing in being a part of that particular concert was that I got to wear a gown!). With encouragement and coaching by Aloysia (a lot of coaching, on how to play as a member of a major symphony – thanks, Coach!), I appear to have pulled it off and meanwhile helped spread word of the Festival.
I do believe it is the first time an instrument purchased at Island Hardware and Supply has graced the stage at Benaroya Hall….

Maestro Ludovic Morlot meets up with the OICMF family (Anita, Aloysia, Martin Friedmann, and Laila Storch) after the concert.

Relive Channel Crossing on KING-FM

At 9:00 pm on Friday, October 19th , Classical KING-FM will be broadcasting our Channel Crossing concert. Hear it as it was that summer's eve at Orcas Center. The Miró Quartet, oboist Nathan Hughes, violinists Scott St. John and Carmit Zori, and pianist Scott Cuellar are among the performing artists, playing Haydn, Elgar, and others. Host Peter Newman takes us back to August on his "Live and Local" Broadcast. You can listen live at 98.1 FM or stream it at https://www.king.org/listen/
Looking for Hosts - Could it be You?

Does your home on Orcas have a grand piano? Have you always wanted to hear it played by the very best? We have some Salon Concerts coming up this year (and onward) and are always happy to consider new venues – if you would like to learn more about what hosting one of these lovely events entails, please give me a call at (360) 376-6636 or write [email protected] and we’ll chat, and perhaps be able to fill your home with music!

We look forward to sharing more OICMF news and events with you - keep your eyes peeled for next month's Scherzo !
All the best,
