FROM THE INTERIM PASTOR / BOOK CLUB
If there's interest, I would like to start a Book Club.
The book we would begin with is Gifts of the Dark Wood: Seven Blessings for Soulful Skeptics (and Other Wanderers). We would meet weekly to discuss and reflect upon each chapter read (9 chapters/181 pages).
Here's a blurb from goodreads.com about the book:
Gifts of the Dark Wood "is a guidebook for spirituality in an uncertain world. Though commonly understood as a place to be feared and avoided, the Dark Wood is the surest place to meet God, writes author Eric Elnes. It is a place where you may feel uncertain, empty, lost, tempted, and alone. Yet these feelings -- these gifts of the Dark Wood -- can be your greatest assets on your journey.
If you're interested in being part of this group, email me at trinityinterimwill@gmail.com with the message heading "book club" and we'll go from there. Thank you.

FROM THE FAITH FORMATION DIRECTOR
Welcome Back!
Fall is a season for fresh beginnings as a new school year starts! We are excited for some new changes to our worship space as we make room for a larger prayerground for families. You will be able to sit at tables together if you wish and take advantage of a variety of family friendly items for the little ones. We will also have worship tool boxes that can be used during and after our worship service.
Trinity Tots will meet on October 22nd after service in the nursery.
Community ACTS our youth and teen community service group has begun again. Every other Tuesday from 6-7pm in room 105.
We can’t wait to see you!! 🙂

Hello Trinity Community!
It has been great to get back into the flow of music planning, rehearsing and performing! I always enjoy sharing worship with all of you, and providing special music for services, but getting to create music with other people always seems to help me “recharge”! Music is one of the few areas of life where anyone is included and everyone belongs. Hmm..Sounds like a great church I know. 🙂
I’m excited for the variety of worship we will get to experience this month. Check out the information below for specific details for each week of October.
- October 1st: Familiar traditional hymns in support of a Baptism and Communion
-
October 8th: Service provided by Just Peace Players of Worcester performing “Hey, Save the World”. Free performance. Fellowship with actors afterwards.
- October 15th: Service Music provided by Worship Band (w/ newly added members)
- October 24th: Special Music provided by Adult Voice Choir
- October 29th: 5th Sunday Hymn Sing
This month, we will also be re-introducing the Song of the Month and a Sung Benediction that will be used each week, followed by different selections for the next month.
For October…
-
October’s Song of the Month will be a Spanish tune called “We’re United in Jesus” (Chalice Hymnal #493). Don’t worry if you aren’t confident in Spanish. We will use the English verse to learn it for the first few weeks, possibly hear an individual sing the Spanish verse, and hopefully include both verses for the Hymn Sing on the final weekend.
-
The Sung Benediction will be “Go Now in Peace” (Chalice Hymnal #437). After we get familiar with singing it in unison in the beginning weeks, we will eventually attempt a 2-part round with the congregation, as well as include handbell accompaniment for the final 2 weeks of the month.
You might see my face floating around Social Media a few times in short videos promoting the music ministries at Trinity Church. If you would like to help spread the word about the great things we are doing, please share them around as much as possible.
And it’s still not too late to join in on the joy of creating music together for the Lord. The Voice Choir and Worship Band can accommodate anyone joining through the end of the month, and Bell Choir has 1-2 more weeks open for new members until next Season. Reach out if you are interested in those opportunities.
As we enter Fall with the month of October, life seems to get faster and faster. I feel like we just recovered from the success of our involvement with Applefest, and now we are talking about Christmas in music rehearsals. But no matter how fast the revolving door of time spins us around, I hope you are able to always take time to show God’s Love everywhere you go! The Community of Trinity has a superpower: its people
Song of the Month: We’re United in Jesus (#493 in Chalice Hymnal)

English Translation
We’re united in Jesus, we’re united. Like a family, we’re united.
We have one God, one Holy Lord. We have one faith, only one Love.
Just one baptism, one Holy Spirit, one Comforter sent from God above.
Original Spanish
Somos uno en Cristo, somos uno, somos uno, uno solo.
Un solo Dios, un solo Señor. Una sola fe, un solo amor
Un solo bautismo, un solo Espíritu y este es el Consolador
Until We Meet Again,
Scott Arnold (He/Him)

Thank you from the Search Team to everyone who completed our survey or joined one of our small discussion groups. We have compiled your responses and have completed our church profile, a document that will tell a prospective settled pastor who we are, what our goals are, where we are financially, and what we are looking for in a pastor. As we look at our options, we will be working with the Deacons to decide if we want to call a full time, 3/4 time, or half time pastor. You will be hearing more in our upcoming stewardship campaign.
We’re excited to get Saturday Breakfast Fellowship started up again. This month it will be on Saturday October 21, 2023 at 8:30 AM.
This month I want to talk about the Order of Worship and its history. Early Christian worship seemed to consist of four parts: the apostles’ teachings, fellowship, breaking of bread, and the prayers. Much has changed since then. I will send links to readings which talk about how worship has evolved over the past 2000 years.
Everyone is welcome to join us for breakfast, fellowship, and discussion.
For more information or to add yourself to the Saturday Breakfast Fellowship email list, please contact Tom at tomdan4@gmail.com

Thank you for attending “Conversation with an Asian American” on June 4th. As an Asian American growing up in Boston I had a strong family, a loving church, opportunity and safety enabling me to succeed or have a good life.
This is not the situation for many other people as violent hate crimes are increasing at a high rate in our country. It was not until I saw the PBS documentary “Asian Americans” in April 2020 that I truly understood some of my family’s history and why there have been so many hate crimes happening today. What can we do about this?
I have already communicated to my state senator, Robyn K. Kennedy and state representative, Kate Donahue about the need to support bill H.542/S.288-an act to promote racially inclusive curriculum in public school. Our students need to know and understand these hidden or under represented histories because we need them to be the competent, responsible citizens to lead our Commonwealth’s future.
So please email or communicate your support!
