WORDS FROM WILL

Fall and Faith

October arrives with crisp mornings, changing leaves, and the quiet reminder that it can be good to let things go.

Trees release the leaves they have held on to, trusting that new life will come in its proper time. In much the same way, faith invites us to loosen our grip on worry, disappointment, and the need to control every outcome—and to place our lives again in God’s faithful hands.

Change can be beautiful, but it can also feel uncertain. Yet amid every change, God remains steadfast. The same Lord who meets us in seasons of growth is present in seasons of letting go, rest, and renewal.

When familiar routines shift or the path ahead seems unclear, we can remember that our hope is rooted not in circumstances, but in the unchanging love of Jesus Christ.

This fall, consider making room for a simple practice of faith: begin the day with gratitude, offer one burden to God in prayer, reach out to someone who may feel isolated, or take a quiet walk, bike ride, or car drive and notice the beauty of creation.

Small acts of trust can deepen our awareness of God’s presence and prepare our hearts for the season ahead.

May this season of brilliant color and gentle release renew our faith. Whatever changes fall brings, we do not face them alone. God goes before us, walks beside us, and continues to make all things new.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Will

♪ SCOTT’S MUSIC NOTES ♫

Hello Trinity Community!

Wow! Last month was filled with some amazing moments—from the return of our music ensembles to worship services to the tremendous success of our capital campaign. There is so much energy in our community, giving us plenty to celebrate and look forward to!

That energy has made it especially wonderful to get back into the flow of music planning, rehearsing, and performing. I always enjoy sharing worship with all of you and providing special music for our services, but creating music with others is what really helps me “recharge”! Music is one of the few areas of life where everyone has a place and everyone has something to contribute. Hmm...sounds like a great church I know.

I’m excited for the variety of worship we will get to experience this month. Check out the information below for specific details for each week of October.

  • October 4th: In addition to a Communion hymn, I will be introducing a new Song of the Month, as well as a vocal solo to support Pastor Will’s sermon of “Wrestling Not Required”.
  • October 11th: The Worship Band returns to support a praise & worship styled worship service and to feature a song called “The Way” by Pat Barrett
  • October 18th: The Hand Bell Choir will perform a piece called “Canon of Grace”, that brings together the familiar melodies of “Pachelbel's Canon” and “Amazing Grace”.
  • October 25th: The voice choir will sing two songs for worship service - an exciting new song called “Shout for Joy” and a 4-part a capella hymn for the Prelude.

The Song of the Month I have chosen for October is “Trust in God” by Brandon Lake. This is a newer song, released last year, that works in familiar texts and imagery into a comforting melody with a rocking sensation throughout. I encourage you to listen to it HERE. And for a Sung Benediction, we will be including the “3-fold Amen”. You can find it on #314 in the Chalice Hymnal. You can listen to it HERE.

And it’s still not too late to join in on the joy of creating music together for the Lord. The Voice Choir can accommodate anyone joining through the end of the month and the Worship Band is open to anyone throughout the year. Reach out if you are interested in those opportunities.

As we enter another month of worship together, I hope the music we share can do more than simply fill the room. Whether through a familiar hymn, a new song, an instrumental piece, or voices raised together, each musical offering is an opportunity to connect with God and with one another. I am grateful to be able to make music with this community, and I look forward to worshiping with all of you throughout October!
