November Update from the Reopening Task Force
In the past few days there have been two people associated with our church who have tested positive for COVID 19.  One was a visitor attending the memorial service and reception this weekend, and the other was an adult working in the church school.  Both individuals had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  The visitor was mildly symptomatic (congestion) and so far 6 other members of his family have tested negative.  The church school person was [asymptomatic?].

Following guidelines established by the CDC, (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/ 2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html) we have notified the parents of children in the church school, and have begun notifying the people who attended or participated in the memorial service and reception. The CDC has specific recommendations for self-quarantining and testing which apply to anyone who had ‘close contact’ with the infected individual.  Since the CDC defines ‘close contact’ as spending more than 15 minutes in a 24 hour period within 6’ of an infected person, relatively few people had close contact to these two individuals. There are no specific guidelines for people who have not had ‘close contact’ since it carries a negligible risk of transmission.

These events remind us that even though the numbers of COVID 19 cases are dropping, and the vaccination rate continues to rise, we still need to be careful and adhere to good public health measures to stay on top of this pandemic.
