Excellence in Construction & Real Estate Winners Announced: Features CDCR's Eugenio Marlin
The Excellence in Construction & Real Estate awards celebrate individuals and companies who are changing the landscape of the Rochester region through design, construction, project management, innovation, and more. This year, one of the awardees will be the CDCR's own Board Member, Eugenio Marlin for his work in the development field with Ibero-American Development Corporation. Tune into the virtual celebration on October 27 at 12:00pm to cheer on Eugenio (and all the other winners)!

Rochester ranked one of the most neighborly cities in America
Neighbor.com recently revealed its rankings for the second annual "Most Neighborly Cities in America" -- and Rochester came in second place! Neighbor.com CEO Joseph Woodbury notes, "Neighborhoods are the crux of our society, where we make friends, educate out children, and care for each other." We couldn't agree more.

"Despite claims from Lore that Telosa could be 'the most sustainable city in the world,' people were quick to question the sense of building another desert city when Las Vegas is already facing the dire consequences of severe water shortages."

Developers Offer Mobility Services to Lure Car-Free Renters
"Residents of Culdesac Tempe, a no-cars-allowed development in Arizona, will receive a bundle of discounted mobility services when the first units open in 2022. Rising from a 17-acre lot outside Phoenix, Arizona, Culdesac Tempe is billed as the first and only zero-driving community built from scratch in the US; its future residents are contractually forbidden from parking a vehicle within a quarter-mile radius of the site."

Creating More Accessible, Inclusive Buildings
"Routine incorporation of inclusive design ideas isn't common in the US, where building codes only have to comply with the less expansive Americans with Disabilities Act. Guidelines skew toward minimum requirements...All this leaves universal design enthusiasts talking up projects that can be models for architects, planners, and cities."

Friday, Oct. 8-9 | Stone-Tolan House Historic Site (14610)
A celebration of all things autumnal! Check out the inaugural OCTavern Festival, focused on regional agriculture and locally-made products. Reserve tickets to check out the 200-year-old rural Stone-Tolan house (feat. live music, festive beverages, and seasonal fare) OR join the site-wide celebration on the beautiful grounds of the property all day Saturday (feat. local farmers, food vendors, and craftspeople providing demos and items for purchase).

Join a virtual meeting to learn more about how areas surrounding Highland Park are eligible to become National Register Historic Districts, which would make homeowners eligible for the NYS Historic Homeowners Tax Credit program!

Friday, Oct. 15 | 6:00pm-8:00pm | Genesee Valley Sports Complex (14611)
Check out this after dark, family-friendly bike ride! Cyclists are encouraged to light up their bikes with glow sticks and bike lights -- be as conspicuous as possible. Attendees should gather at the Genesee Valley Sports Complex on Elmwood Ave at 6:00pm (kickstands up at 6:30pm). The ride will go through city streets and trails for a total of 11 miles, with shorter loops of 2-5 miles available as well.
