Dear CCSD families and Chillicothe community,

Happy October! I hope you have been able to enjoy the beautiful changing leaves and fall weather while supporting our Cavalier athletics teams and cheering on your students as we hit the halfway point of the semester. In November, we’re preparing to jump into statewide exams before the holiday season begins!

At CCSD, we value our students’ time and effort in their classes and beyond. Attendance is crucial to our success, and we ask that families prioritize this as a means to provide our students with the highest quality educational experience. In addition, we ask that students continue to respect each other and staff members to ensure CCSD is a welcome environment for all. Our vision is to achieve excellence in all areas by preparing students to be productive lifelong learners and citizens, which is assisted by consistency and courtesy in the classroom.

DISTRICT NEWS

Profile: Rob Strong, CHS Language Arts Teacher and Cross Country/Track Coach

Coach Rob Strong has been a pillar in the Cavalier community for six years, beginning in Chillicothe High School’s CAPA program and now teaching high school language arts, and as a coach for CHS’ cross country and track teams. Coaching allows Strong to reach students in both an academic and athletic setting. “I absolutely love building relationships with my students and athletes,” said Strong. “I think that leads to any success we may have. Once a kid knows you care about them, regardless of their success, they will work hard in and out of the classroom.”

His biggest success so far at CCSD has been the consistent growth of the cross country and track programs. Currently, the cross-country program has 35 participants, and the track program has about 100 participants. Strong values that so many students want to come out and work hard in their sport. “There is nothing as rewarding as watching a young person achieve something they didn’t think they could,” he said. “I find so much joy in watching our athletes succeed.”

Outside of work, Strong enjoys spending time with his wife Sara and two boys Dean and Joshua. Of course, our cross country and track coach also loves running!

The cross-country season finished on a successful note at the league meet on October 15. Strong is looking forward to continuing to help students reach their potential during the upcoming track season, and he’s truly grateful to be a Cavalier.
