SPRAVATO IN THE NEWS!

Four years ago, Lakes Depression Center was created and became the first standalone SPRAVATO® Treatment Center in the United States. Since then, we have done over 30,000 SPRAVATO treatments. What is more important than that number is the nearly one thousand patients we have helped with their treatment-resistant depression. We have been there for our patients during their peaks and valleys. Our clients openly share how the treatment and the staff help them open up more about their physical, mental, and emotional needs. Our staff ensures the patient is heard, their emotions validated, and their viewpoints respected.

A recent study conducted by Janssen across 24 countries showed that many patients reached remission with their treatment-resistant depression at eight weeks. Additionally, patients on SPRAVATO (Esketamine) who were in remission at week eight had a greater than 50% chance of remaining in remission and not relapsing until week thirty-two, compared to atypical antidepressants, thyroid medications, SSRIs, SNRIs, and low doses of lithium. SPRAVATO has shown that when taken as prescribed, with an appropriately trained staff and a in a practical healthcare environment, the medication has more successful outcomes compared to more conventional antidepressants.

Depression affects one in six Americans and can strike at any age, sex, and background. Treatment-resistant depression, or TRD, means you have not adequately responded to at least two antidepressants. On average, most patients try three to four antidepressants before they find any relief. During that time, the patient has experienced a diminished quality of life, increased risk for disability, and physical health conditions. People are taking more time off from work than ever before to deal with mental health issues like stress, despair, or anxiety.

At Lakes Depression Center, our commitment is to provide hope to our clients with treatment-resistant depression. Under the leadership of Dr. Lynne Lyons, M.D., our staff works hard to maintain the gold standard of SPRAVATO treatments. As the study highlighted, patient adherence to the treatment plan and positive outcomes directly correlates with the clinic milieu, staff communication, and patient-centered interactions. We have created and implemented training to enhance therapeutic communication and collaboration between patients, staff, therapists, and providers. As Dr. Lyons says, when we help one patient, we also support the community around them.

40 Healthy Coping Skills for Uncomfortable Emotions

Whether you’ve been dumped by your date or you’ve had a rough day at the office, having healthy coping skills can be key to getting through tough times. Coping skills help you tolerate, minimize, and deal with stressful situations in life.

Coping skills are the tactics that people use to deal with stressful situations. Managing your stress well can help you feel better physically and psychologically and impact your ability to perform your best.

But not all coping skills are created equal. Sometimes, it’s tempting to engage in strategies that will give quick relief but might create bigger problems for you down the road. It’s important to establish healthy coping skills that will help you reduce your emotional distress or rid yourself of the stressful situations you face.
