Disaster Emergency Services

Coffee on the Quarter brings supporters together with Catholic Charities team members to learn the impact of their support in our work moving families, children, youth, and seniors from crisis to stability to well-being.

At our September Coffee on the Quarter, supporters were given an inside look at our Disaster Emergency Services program, which helps families affected by federally declared natural disasters in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

The program's initial focus is returning families to safe, sanitary, and secure housing following a declared disaster. This includes providing basic needs such as food, water, and cleaning supplies.

Our Disaster Case Managers play a crucial role advocating for families if their FEMA application is denied and assisting families with long-term recovery goals. We've successfully secured tens of thousands of dollars from FEMA and additional state funds for survivor home repair.

In terms of preparation, especially during fire season, do not overlook the importance of keeping a go-bag ready with important documents and supplies in case of evacuation. Being prepared can help with recovery.

Hurricane Helene Relief

Our hearts and prayers are with the survivors of Hurricane Helene. Catholic Charities USA is a national leader in disaster response, helping with immediate needs and long-term recovery. Please consider giving directly to Catholic Charities USA to help those who are displaced and suffering.

Thank you St. Perpetua Middle Schoolers

A determined and energetic group of middle schoolers and a parent volunteer visited Catholic Charities East Bay's Concord office after school to stuff backpacks for teens served by our various programs. The students are from St. Perpetua School in Lafayette. We are thrilled by the joy and enthusiasm of the young scholars who spent their afternoon making a difference for others.

Special thanks to Peterson CAT in San Leandro for sponsoring this project. We love the many ways our friends, supporters, parish and school partners, and volunteers help our team members meet the needs of families, children, and seniors in our communities.

Sign Up for Joy Bells

The wheels are in motion to prepare for our Joy Bells Annual Gift Campaign. Joy Bells is dedicated to making the holidays bright for families who could not otherwise afford gifts or celebratory meals.

Would you like to join us?

We are seeking volunteers to help with the December 14 Joy Bells gift distribution and sponsors to buy gifts for children and families.

If you are interested in being part of this heartwarming and truly special event, please contact our development team at development@cceb.org or contact Mari Mosca at 510-350-6177.

Sign ups for specific families will begin November 3. In the meantime, please let us know if you can help.

#Cartober

#Cartober is a national awareness campaign held throughout the month of October to encourage people to do good by donating their unwanted vehicles to their favorite nonprofit, like Catholic Charities East Bay. Vehicle donations have the potential to bring in hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars to support families, children, and seniors in need.

You can donate cars, trucks, motorcyles, RV's, and boats even if they aren't running!

We accept vehicle donations through the CARS program. Please use the link below to make your donation.
