Volunteer News & Updates

October 2023

EMBRACE

This October, amidst the challenges that surround us, let us take a moment to embrace our loved ones and the role we have in making a positive difference every day. It is through your dedicated efforts that we make the world a better place.

As we step into the final quarter of 2023, Senior Care Volunteer Network offers many opportunities for active engagement. Please check out the events and calendar below.

Our gratitude goes out to all who participated in Fall Diddley, whether as a shopper or a volunteer, the inclement weather did not keep you away. We had a record number of hours this year and we are grateful for your support. The Mental Health Resource League gives the profits from this event back to the community. We are thankful to be a recipient of those dollars. See the calendar below for the QPR Suicide Prevention training SCVN is offering on November 14th.

Our most anticipated event on the horizon is the official Crystal Lake Chamber Ribbon Cutting Ceremony scheduled for this Wednesday, November 1st at 4:00pm. Please join us in ensuring the community is aware of our services and the impact we make. We would love the business community to see our volunteer support and how amazing you are. Hope to see you next week!

On November 11th, we invite you to participate in our "Serve a Senior" leaf-raking day. Gather at our office at 8:30am for coffee and donuts, pick up your lawn bags and assignments, and embark with others in this act of service. Join us in spreading kindness.

Once again, writing on behalf of every staff member at SCVN, it is both an honor and a joy to know you and to wholeheartedly support your volunteer service. You, our treasured volunteers, enrich our lives and those of countless others.

Wishing you a season filled with warmth and purpose as you embrace each new day!

  With gratitude,

Recently, we concluded a highly successful AARP SMART driver training session at our office. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees has affirmed its value, and for those who may have missed it this year, rest assured, it will be offered again. Thank you to all of those who attended, your engagement made it such a great class!

As we approach the holidays, it is important for you, our volunteers, to take the time you deserve with your families.  Please let me know the dates you are not available so I can update your profile. This will help me forecast our schedule and avoid asking for something while you are off. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to our driving program.
