Last Chance to Join Your Colleagues for Walktober
Join nearly 400 of your colleagues for Walktober! While this web-based movement challenge kicked off on Oct. 1, you still have through Oct. 6 to sign up and form/join a team if you'd like.
Participants will be taken on a virtual color tour through some of the world’s most vibrant, breathtaking landscapes — while boosting energy, improving mood, and making walking a priority…for life. Participants will fill up a virtual tree with red, orange, and gold leaves based on daily physical activity, by linking a tracking device/app or using the platform's built-in tracking tool.
Sunday, October 1 - Tuesday, October 31. Registration and team formation closes Oct. 6.
Walktober is open to benefits-eligible faculty and staff only. Engage actively throughout the program, and you'll be entered into a prize raffle at the end! Participation in Walktober can be used toward meeting the requirements for the Physical Activity Wellness Program Incentive. Read the full requirements on the Physical Activity page of the Wellness website.

Poker Walk - Friday, October 6
If you plan to be on campus on Friday, October 6, we invite you to join us for a Poker Walk! This will be an opportunity to take a break, add some movement to your workday, connect with the CWRU community, engage in a little friendly competition, and maybe even leave with a prize! All are welcome to attend.
What is a Poker Walk? A poker walk is an active game in which participants walk a predetermined route and receive a poker card after each lap. Participants must walk the route five times to earn a complete poker hand. After the fifth lap, participants turn in their complete hands to the dealer, who determines the winning poker hand. The winner of each hand will be awarded a small prize. We will also have snacks and water available.
Weather permitting, this event will take place outside in front of the Veale Recreation Center (2158 Adelbert Rd.). We will move inside to the Veale Center track in the case of inclement weather. The time for the event is 11:30 am - 1:30 pm on Friday, Oct. 6. Come whenever you can and stay for as long as you want. It will likely take you 30 minutes or less to walk the five laps and complete your poker hand. We hope to see you there!

Seasons of Self-Care: Fall
Seasons of Self-Care is a four-part program which encourages participants to explore the year through a delightful set of seasonal signals focused on self-care. Throughout this year, we have focused on winter, spring, and summer. The program will now culminate with five sessions focused on self-care during the fall.
Engage in a season during which we honor the timeless turning of nature, and thus within ourselves: fall. Join Heidi Weiker in this chapter of our self-care journey. We'll reflect on and contemplate the beauty of impermanence in all things. We'll deepen our respect for the interconnection of grief and gratefulness. We'll honor the natural falling away while we enjoy the comfort and repose of fall.
Whether you are a returning participant or will be joining for the first time, we invite you to participate in Seasons of Self-Care: Fall. If you did not participate in the previous rounds of this program, we encourage you to view the recordings on this page.
This round of the program will be delivered in a hybrid format, meaning you choose whether you want to participate in person with Heidi at the TVUC or via Zoom (the fifth session is Zoom only). Use the links to the right to register according to your preference.
Monthly Wellness Incentive recipients seeking a Stress Management Wellness Program Incentive would need to participate in at least two iterations of the Seasons program, including via the recordings, which are available on this page.

Reminder: CWRU is a Tobacco-Free Campus
CWRU became tobacco-free on July 1, 2017. As a university with a strong focus on health, it is a top priority to create a healthy environment for our community to work and learn. Visit the university's Tobacco Free website for resources, including a link to the policy, which prohibits the use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and all forms of smokeless tobacco on CWRU property, as well as resources for tobacco cessation for those who want support in quitting, including phone, online and in-person programs, and nicotine replacement therapy. It takes all of us to keep CWRU tobacco free. Thank you!
