Welcome to fall with its crisp air and beautiful colors. It won’t be long before the snow guns are blasting away to begin the upcoming ski season. I hope to see you at the CVOA Homecoming Booth where you can renew your membership and meet fellow CVOA members. Bring along friends and neighbors who might be interested in joining. You can view the Homecoming events calendar at: sugarloaf.com/events-calendar/homecoming.

Range News
Hello All,

Colors are changing quickly and hunting season is here. We’ve seen an uptick of folks siting in their rifles for the season. Also, as a friend described them, the “people of color” are enjoying the changing leaves and beautiful weather that is Fall in Maine. That means the Range has seen a lot of non-members taking advantage of our $5 Day Use Waiver passes. One wedding party brought in by a member had a dozen folks shooting. If you see folks at the range, offer whatever information they may need to safely enjoy their day. Also, if you are leaving the Range and see other folks still there, let them know you are leaving and ask them to lock the gate if they are the last ones out. That way, if they are Day Use folks, they don’t accidentally get locked in! Your help is appreciated.

Oh! And if you know anyone who wants to join the Range and CVOA, now is a great time. Their new membership will include the rest of 2021 and all of 2022.

As winter approaches, we will continue the 5 Stand Shoots on Saturdays 9am-noon and Trap Shoots on Sunday 9am-noon until the weather gets too cold. Usually some time in November. Remember, Trap is weather dependent, but the 5 Stand is covered. Also, our club house is heated and we have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to warm you up between shoots. The Pistol and Rifle Ranges will be plowed for the winter.

CVOA Range and Stratton-Eustis Lions Club member, Dawn Smith, is selling raffle tickets for an item in which some of the Range members might have an interest. It's a Savage Axis.243 rifle cal Bolt Action with a 3-9x40 Scope plus a box of ammo. Here are some details:
• The retail value is $389
• The proceeds go to the Stratton-Eustis Lions Club Scholarship and the Canine Companions for Independence
• $5/ticket or $20/5 tickets
• Only 400 tickets to be sold
• Drawing is December 20, 2021, and you don't have to be present to win

If you are interested in entering the drawing and supporting this worthy organization, you can contact Dawn directly at: dwnsmith5@gmail.com or 207-441-9210.

Also, some of you will fondly remember Range member and expert Trap shooter, Dale Hardy, who passed away last year. The Wilton Fish and Game Club, 256 US Route 2, Wilton, ME 04294, will be holding a Turkey Shoot in his honor on Sunday, November 7th. Dale’s wife donated his prepaid Trap/5 Stand punchcard back to CVOA. We will donate it to the Wilton Fish and Game Club as a prize in the Turkey Shoot. The card has no expiration date and can be used for multiple shooters.

See you at the Range!
