The Thing

Tucker & Dale vs Evil,

streaming on Kanopy, the Library's free video streaming service!

Monster House

"This 2006 flick isn't only super cozy and nostalgic to me, it's also just a genuinely good film with an intriguing villain, memorable characters, and beautiful animation."

The Autopsy of Jane Doe

"The attention to detail is unmatched, with an ending that will have you eager to play it back and see what they were telling us all along."

Recommended by Kayla

Spongebob Squarepants: Halloween

Recommended by Megan

Brightburn

"An amazing anti-hero movie."

Recommended by Dan

Candyman

"Plenty of jump scares and ambiance, with the additional exhumation of the cultural legacy that was Cabrini-Green."

Recommended by Noah

The Old Dark House,

streaming on Kanopy, the Library's free video streaming service!

"I'd like to recommend the movie The Old Dark House available to stream on Kanopy. It's an old one, from 1932, but don't let the age put you off. James Whale's follow-up to his film-turned-cultural phenomenon "Frankenstein" is a unique and thoroughly enjoyable spooky flick. Arguably proto-horror in that it's a movie that feels a little confused over its own genre, so what we get is part-romance, part-family comedy, part-social satire, part-haunted house, all-silly good time. Also features what I would call Boris Karloff's best performance as a creepy butler.

All in all, it's a fantastic choice to kick off Spooktober!"
