October has arrived at the Bennington Public Library!

Mark your calendars for Freaky Fun Friday, our annual Halloween bash in Centennial Park. Join the library and other local organizations for an afternoon of games, candy, and plenty of Halloween fun! The event will take place on Friday, October 30 from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM. Costumes are encouraged!

October Library Closures

Elementary Aerospace STEAM

We’re excited to hold a special Elementary STEAM program on Saturday, October 24 at 10:00 AM!

This aerospace-themed program will be presented by the 99th Squadron Civil Air Patrol. Children in grades 1–5 will explore the basics of flight and aerodynamics as they design, build, and test their own paper airplanes.

Teen Murder Mystery

Think you can solve a murder? 🔎

Teens in grades 6–12 are invited to our Murder Mystery Party on Friday, October 16, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at the library!

Grab your friends and get ready for a night of clues, secrets, suspects, and mystery. Work together to crack the case before the night is over. You can come with a group or join the fun on your own! Either way, you’ll have a chance to put your detective skills to the test!

Think you’ve got what it takes to solve the case? Come find out!

Adult Sourdough Class

Ready to get started with sourdough? Join us for a Sourdough Class with KCC Bakery this October! Whether you’re brand new to sourdough or just looking for a few helpful tips, this class will cover the basics and help you get started on your own sourdough journey.

We’ll offer two classes covering the same material, so please register for ONE date only.

Classes are free and open to adults ages 18+, but pre-registration is required. Find the link to register on our website. Registration opens October 1.

Library Crawl

We’re excited to be part of the 2026 Library Fall Crawl!

Pick up a passport at the library and start exploring participating libraries across Nebraska. Collect stickers along the way—visit 10 libraries for a chance to win a reading-themed gift basket, or visit 30 or more libraries to earn a special Fall Library Crawl tote bag!
