ALLIANCE SUCCESSFUL IN URGING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST PUPPY MILL
"Conditions that dogs were subjected to were horrible and inexcusable," according to Attorney General Eric Schmitt
Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced on Wednesday that he has initiated legal action against Cory Mincey, the operator of Puppy Love Kennel. Press Release

This is the result of the Alliance aggressively lobbying the Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) and the Missouri Attorney General (AG) to effectively enforce the Animal Care Facilities Act and the Canine Cruelty Prevention Act in an effort to close down inhumane dog breeding operations.

Earlier this year, the Alliance submitted a list of some of the worst dog breeders in the state to MDA and to the AG’s office. We requested that MDA and the AG take appropriate action to bring substandard breeders into compliance or to close them down permanently.

Our efforts are paying off as the AG has initiated legal action against several puppy mills on our list including this most recent action against Puppy Love Kennel which was prominent on the report that we submitted to the Department of Agriculture and to Attorney General Schmitt. Report on Puppy Love Kennel

Shockingly, the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has given clean inspection reports on Puppy Love Kennel in spite of the findings by MDA.  As detailed in our latest print Newsletter, USDA has totally abdicated its responsibility to enforce the federal Animal Welfare Act.
USDA believes that its inspection reports ignoring heavily matted and thin dogs at Puppy Love Kennel are "accurate"
The Alliance provided the critical MDA inspection reports and the graphic photographs documenting the violations at Puppy Love Kennel to officials within USDA. We asked Dr. Robert Gibbens, USDA’s Director of Animal Welfare Operations, to explain why his Agency continues to pass Puppy Love Kennel in spite of the documentation of serious neglect by the state inspectors.  The Alliance invited Dr. Gibbens to personally inspect Puppy Love Kennel due to the horrifying reports by the state.  Our request was rebuffed by Dr. Gibbens who replied that “we have reviewed the findings of their [USDA veterinarians] inspections in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and believe they are accurate.”

Fortunately, the Missouri Department of Agriculture and Attorney General Schmitt are not relying on USDA to close down puppy mills in Missouri.

Please contact Attorney General Eric Schmitt and thank him for taking action against cruel puppy mills.
